Join a 100% employee-owned firm, most recently ranked #11 in Top Environmental Firms by Engineering News-Record.

The Risk Assessment Practice Leader will combine hands-on technical leadership with the opportunity to develop people, guide project strategy, and build lasting client relationships. You will lead project teams serving an established portfolio of public- and private-sector clients, manage risk assessment projects and tasks, and advance technical thought leadership through industry trade organizations, conference presentations, and mentorship.

Bring an entrepreneurial mindset to a role where your technical judgment can influence project strategy and help clients address their most challenging environmental issues. You will have opportunities to apply new technologies and approaches, expand your professional impact, and help other professionals grow within one of the industry’s leading firms.

This opportunity is well suited to an experienced environmental assessment and remediation consultant who wants to pair deep technical expertise with practice leadership. Successful candidates will bring technical leadership in risk assessment and vapor intrusion, proficient project management skills, and demonstrated success developing and executing human health risk assessment and vapor intrusion projects. Experience overseeing ecological risk assessments and developing regulatory site management strategies under CERCLA, RCRA, and state regulatory programs is a plus, as are existing client relationships. Some travel is required, and professional registration is preferred.

Duties Include:

  • Lead project teams delivering human health and ecological risk assessments consistent with federal and state standards.

  • Mentor less experienced professionals, provide technical guidance, and help coordinate training, career development, and thought leadership within your areas of expertise.

  • Help clients engage stakeholders on complex issues involving contaminant toxicology, vapor intrusion, and risk assessment.

  • Guide project implementation, quality assurance and quality control, scheduling, and budget management to deliver high-quality work.

  • Contribute to marketing and client relationship development, and maintain regular communication with clients, agencies, subcontractors, and other external partners.

  • Shape project strategy and lead preparation of risk assessment and vapor intrusion work plans and reports for CERCLA, RCRA, and other state-led programs.

  • Balance billable project delivery with non-billable responsibilities, including technical leadership, mentorship, and client development.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Toxicology, Public Health, or related life science discipline or related field, from an accredited curriculum.

  • Minimum 14 years of related professional experience in environmental risk assessment; minimum 13 years with a Master’s degree.

  • Strong vapor intrusion experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of and current knowledge of applicable CERCLA, RCRA and state-led regulations and regulatory programs.

  • Strong field experience and knowledge of environmental field investigation techniques required.

  • Expert knowledge of environmental site assessment methods.

  • Expert knowledge of environmental compliance and compliance audits.

  • Expert knowledge of the environmental permitting process.

  • Expert knowledge of GPS and working in the ArcGIS desktop environment.

  • Experience conducting risk assessments on emerging contaminants is preferred.

  • Must be proficient in the use of computer software (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

  • Technical leadership and project management experience is preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work within a Team framework.

  • Self-motivation and the ability to multi-task (write reports, analyze data, perform technical project tasks, etc.) are also a prerequisite.

  • Must have ability to deal effectively with a wide variety of project-related matters.

  • Must meet standards to qualify for and maintain the Company's vehicle driving privileges as outlined in the Company's Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
