Job Title: Maintenance Engineer Job Description
The Maintenance Engineer operates, inspects, and maintains HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility operations. This role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of building systems and equipment, while minimizing downtime and supporting a high standard of building performance and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
-
Operate, inspect, and maintain all HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and production equipment and systems in assigned facilities to ensure efficient operation and maximum life expectancy.

Perform ongoing preventive maintenance and repair response work orders on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems, equipment, and components.

Maintain, operate, and repair all HVAC/R systems and associated equipment, electrical distribution systems, plumbing systems, building interior and exterior elements, and related grounds and production equipment for assigned buildings.

Troubleshoot and repair facility equipment, with a strong focus on HVAC/R systems and commercial or supermarket refrigeration.

Perform inspections and repairs to property interior and exterior areas, including walls, flooring, installed fixtures, roofing systems, lighting, and related building elements.

Study and become thoroughly familiar with equipment and the methods required to operate, maintain, and repair it properly as part of daily activities.

Conduct assigned facility inspections and due diligence efforts, and report on conditions that may impact satisfactory occupancy and operations.

Utilize a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS), such as Corrigo, to receive, document, and complete all work orders, and update work order status in real time.

Submit purchasing card (P-card) receipts on a daily basis in accordance with established procedures.

Prepare and maintain documentation such as invoices, reports, memos, letters, financial statements, and other related documents as needed.

File and retrieve corporate documents, records, and reports to support maintenance and facility operations.

Open, sort, and distribute incoming correspondence, including faxes and emails, and prepare responses to routine inquiries when required.

Maintain accurate maintenance records and keep information organized and confidential.

Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and service providers to coordinate maintenance activities and resolve issues.
-
Be available for call-in work, including after-hours and weekend assignments, and work overtime as needed to support facility operations.

Drive to various locations as required for the role, while maintaining a valid state drivers license.

Perform other related duties as required to support safe, reliable, and efficient building operations.
Essential Skills
-
Minimum of four (4) years of technical experience in all aspects of building engineering, including HVAC/R, plumbing, electrical, and production equipment repair and maintenance.
-
Demonstrated technical expertise in HVAC and refrigeration systems, including troubleshooting and maintaining commercial and/or supermarket refrigeration.
-
Strong multi-skilled ability across electrical, HVAC, piping/plumbing, and material handling equipment.
-
Knowledge of overall building system design, operation, and applications.
-
Universal CFC recovery certification, or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment.
-
High school diploma or GED.
-
Ability to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on complex mechanical and electrical systems.
-
Proficiency in using CMMS systems such as Corrigo to manage and document work orders.
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders and document work clearly.
-
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize multiple tasks.
-
Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills when working in occupied facilities.
-
Ability to maintain organized and accurate records while keeping sensitive information confidential.
-
Valid state drivers license and ability to travel between sites as required.

Ability to be available for call-in work, overtime, and occasional weekend or after-hours assignments.
Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience utilizing CMMS work order systems for tracking and managing maintenance activities.

Working knowledge of common computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel, and preferably PowerPoint.

Two years of trade school or documented apprenticeship in electrical systems, refrigeration, or HVAC.
-
57 years of experience in maintenance technician roles involving troubleshooting, plumbing, HVAC, repair, preventive maintenance, and maintenance repair activities.
-
Strong multi-tasking ability and attention to detail when handling both technical and administrative tasks.
-
Ability to prepare and format invoices, reports, memos, letters, and other business documents.
-
Ability to open, sort, and distribute correspondence and respond appropriately to routine inquiries.
-
Demonstrated reliability and accountability in submitting receipts, updating work orders, and following established procedures.

Work Environment
This position follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with overtime and after-hours or weekend work as needed for call-ins and critical maintenance. The role is based in a facilities environment in the East Valley area, servicing buildings that may include mechanical rooms, roofs, production areas, and interior office or retail spaces. You work hands-on with HVAC/R systems, electrical distribution equipment, plumbing systems, production equipment, and building interior and exterior components, using tools, test equipment, and a CMMS platform such as Corrigo to manage work orders. The work involves moving between indoor and outdoor areas, climbing, inspecting building systems, and occasionally working in tight or elevated spaces. There is no dedicated employee parking provided. The dress environment is typical for facilities maintenance, requiring practical, safety-conscious attire and use of appropriate personal protective equipment as tasks and site rules require. Interviews may be conducted virtually or in person, depending on current needs.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $33.00 - $37.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
