Department: Behavioral Health Unit
Shifts Available: Days
Employment Type: Full-Time
Hours: 12-hour shifts – 7:00 am to 7:00 pm
Location: St. Joseph Medical Center- Kansas City,MO

As a Behavioral Health Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you'll provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients with acute mental health needs in a dynamic inpatient behavioral health setting. Working alongside Registered Nurses and an interdisciplinary care team, you'll play a key role in promoting patient safety, stabilization, and recovery.
From medication administration and patient monitoring to behavioral observation, crisis intervention, and care coordination, you'll help create a safe, therapeutic environment where patients can heal and thrive. Responsibilities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but is not limited to):

Provide direct nursing care to patients with acute mental and behavioral health needs in an inpatient setting

Observe, monitor, and document patient behavior, mental status, and safety risks
-
Administer medications as ordered and monitor for side effects
-
Assist with crisis intervention and de‑escalation to promote unit safety
-
Support admissions, discharges, and transfers, including patient education
-
Collaborate with RNs, providers, and the interdisciplinary care team
-
Complete accurate and timely clinical documentation per policy and regulations
Qualifications
Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:

A current and valid state license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Psychiatric Technician.

A current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain it current.

IV certification within 90 days of hire
