Full job description

The West Seneca Central School District has an immediate vacancy for a long-term substitute in the Education of Children with Handicapping Conditions - General Special Education tenure area. This will be a full-time, temporary appointment beginning approximately November 4, 2026, through the end of the first semester of the 2026-2027 school year for an individual who is certified to teach Special Education at the secondary level.

The selected candidate will receive salary and benefits prorated to the appointment timeframe. The assignment for the position is Inclusion/Self-Contained ELA 9/10 and Resource Room. The candidate will collaborate with teachers in the ELA and Special Education departments.

The candidate must be able to demonstrate:

  • planning and preparation;

  • instructional skills;

  • effective classroom management; and

  • be motivated to engage in continuous professional learning.

Salary and benefits are paid according to the West Seneca Teachers' Association's collective bargaining agreement. The candidate will report to the building Principal and the Director of Special Education.

Job Qualifications

Certification(s)

  • Special Education — All Grades, or

  • Students with Disabilities 7-12

  • ELA (preferred, not required)

Specialized Training

  • Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS)

  • Early Literacy

  • Working With Children

  • At Risk Youth

Technology Literacy

  • Experience Using Technology As An Instructional Tool

  • Google Docs

  • Google Apps for Education

  • Microsoft Office

  • Promethean Boards/Smart Boards

  • Frontline/IEP Direct (exp. helpful)

  • PowerSchool (exp. helpful)
