Full job description

The Supply Chain Planner is responsible for ensuring efficient material flow across the network and supporting continuous improvement initiatives by managing supply plans for approximately 115M LB of production, including master production scheduling and inbound interplant transfers. This role maintains supply chain planning systems, including SAP, Logility, and Manufacturing Workbench, to ensure accurate material and planning data. The planner develops and releases weekly production schedules by SKU and production line, balancing operational constraints with customer service requirements. Working closely with Manufacturing Planning, the role supports schedule execution and drives supply plan adherence. The role is also required to manage slow moving and obsolete inventory and coordinating with the Product Management team. Limited travel to manufacturing sites is required.

Essential Functions:

Inventory Planning and Replenishment

  • Develop the master production schedule to maximize order fill rates while maintaining operational efficiency.

  • Manage inventory to meet service targets while minimizing excess and obsolete stock, including SAP material planning settings and customer inventory and demand data.

  • Monitor replenishment cycles using forecasts and internal tools to improve in-stock levels and service.

  • Track and report order fill rate, on-time delivery, inventory turns, and in-stock performance.

  • Serve as the primary supply chain contact for internal customers, resolving issues and identifying improvements.

  • Partner with demand planning and procurement to align supply plans with demand and inventory targets.

  • Coordinate with logistics to resolve transportation delays and delivery disruptions.

  • Support the Sales and Operations Planning process with inventory and replenishment insights.

  • Represent Planning on cross-functional calls and provide updates on product availability and service issues.

Process Improvements and Projects

  • Identify supply chain inefficiencies and recommend improvements that strengthen service and reduce costs.

  • Share best practices with other CertainTeed businesses, align data needs, and advocate for common solutions.

  • Analyze service failures, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.

  • Provide supply chain analysis and business support as needed.

  • Minimum 3 - 5 years of work experience

  • Supply chain roles; experience with S&OP (Sales & Operations Planning) and ERP systems like SAP or Oracle.

  • Leadership communications and engaging in S&OP Meetings

Preferred

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, preferably SAP

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and PowerPoint

  • Ability to utilize available tools and systems to effectively balance inventory & customer service in support of business goals

  • Strong analytical skills, enabling the conversion of large data sets into summaries from which conclusions can be drawn

  • Ability to create processes and tools that are reliable and repeatable, aimed at supporting business goals

  • Ability to work independently and with teams

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including ability to bring about consensus in areas of conflict

  • Strong attention to detail, providing accurate and consistent work

PREFERRED OR DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • APICS Certification preferred (CPIM or CSCP)

  • Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, or WCM (world class manufacturing)

  • Experience managing inventories across a multi-site network
