Accounting Manager

Description We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee core financial operations for an architecture firm in Orlando, Florida. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate project-related financial records, supporting timely payment activity, and providing clear reporting that helps leadership monitor budgets and performance. The ideal candidate brings strong accounting judgment, a service-oriented approach when working with vendors and consultants, and the ability to support day-to-day department operations while serving as a dependable resource for the broader finance team.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee accounts payable records, supporting schedules, and financial files to ensure organized and accurate documentation.

• Produce financial and project-based reporting that highlights spending, activity levels, and performance against established budgets.

• Examine consultant and vendor invoices for completeness, approvals, and coding accuracy before processing payments.

• Record incoming customer payments and update account balances to reflect current activity.

• Address accounting-related questions from consultants and vendors while providing timely follow-up on payment matters.

• Investigate billing issues, reconcile discrepancies, and post account corrections when necessary.

• Prepare daily bank deposits and coordinate weekly payment runs for consultants and vendors.

• Support account analysis, routine administrative tasks, and cross-functional assistance for leadership and the accounting team, including training new staff on Vantage Point and providing backup coverage when needed. Requirements • 5+ years of accounting experience, including responsibility for payables, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

• Background in accounting for project-based environments, with architecture, construction, or related industry experience preferred.

• Demonstrated ability to prepare financial statements and analyze budget-to-actual project results.

• Knowledge of accrued expenses and other period-end accounting processes.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to review invoices, resolve discrepancies, and maintain accurate records.

• Effective communication skills for working with vendors, consultants, and internal leadership.

• Experience supervising accounting or administrative staff is preferred.

• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheets; prior experience with Vantage Point is a plus.
