The Kinetic Group is a world leader in the design, manufacturing, and distribution of small caliber ammunition under the iconic brands B&P, CCI, Federal Premium, Fiocchi, HEVI, Remington and Speer. We have domestic ammunition manufacturing facilities in Minnesota, Idaho, Arkansas, and Missouri, and service law enforcement, government agencies and sporting enthusiasts throughout the world. Today, The Kinetic Group is a part of the Ammo+ division of The Czechoslovak Group (CSG), which holds a diverse portfolio of companies in the defense, security, automotive, aerospace and rail industries.

Federal Ammunition is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the team! In this role you will be responsible for providing pro-active hands-on Quality Engineering expertise and Quality Improvement Leadership to a specific FCC product line (Shotshell), and technical work direction/support to a large diverse customer base.

This position reports to the Quality Director and will be based out of our Anoka, MN location.

Experience you bring:

BSIE/BSME from a major university or equivalent

1-3 years (minimum) of progressive Quality Engineering experience in a high volume consumer manufacturing environment

Knowledge of and application experience with SPC, DOE, TQM, etc.

Excellent organizational, communication, problem solving, project management and teamwork skills

Able to operate well in an unstructured environment with minimal direct supervision

Superior personal computer application skills

What you’ll do:

Manufacturing Process Improvement:

Improve our manufacturing process quality and provide timely effective leadership/support to the plant manufacturing team.

Specific tasks include: Conducting capability studies and then using that information to take the appropriate actions, conducting a Design of Experiments to understand process or performance variables and then take the appropriate actions, working with vendors and plant personnel to procure/install automated inspection equipment or other equipment which improves process or product quality, etc.

Quality Improvement Leadership:

Pro-actively lead or support specific Six Sigma and/or product line improvement projects by applying technical expertise, organizational skills and the appropriate improvement tool/technique to ensure project completion on time within budget.

Assist on other improvement projects as requested.

Quality System Improvement:

Work with Quality Management/Associates and plant representatives to improve our Quality System. This includes ISO 9000 implementation as required.

Providing work direction and support to our Quality Auditors is part of this area of accountability.

Quality in Design:

Contribute to building quality into our products/services, actively contributing to the new product team by addressing producibility/inspectability issues and by leading the classification of characteristics effort.

Supplier Quality Improvement:

Proactively support the Material's Department on improving the quality of procured material. This includes the flow down of quality requirements to FCC suppliers, the system of ensuring procured material meets our requirements and our supplier improvement/validation program.

Capital Project Support:

Support Manufacturing Engineering on capital projects as appropriate/requested and lead specific projects from the idea stage thru installation and post audit Measurement Systems/Data Analysis: Aid in the development, procurement and installation of inspection equipment and conduct error of measurement studies.

Help identify, design, procure and use Quality Information programs/systems and analyze data from these systems using statistical techniques.

Provide timely user-friendly summaries to the appropriate people.

Assist any group or department in establishing Quality/Productivity measurements.

Work Environment:

Employee work assignments may include tasks working with and/or exposure to potentially hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided to all employees to ensure compliance with company and federal regulations.

Pay Range:

$67,100.00 - $93,900.00

The actual annual salary offered to a candidate will be based on variables including experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements, and will be mutually agreed upon at the time of offer.
