Full job description

Responsibility for all operations associated with the Receiving Department, sample logistics and waste management. Performs a variety of shipping and receiving tasks. Verifies materials received are as ordered and routes incoming items to appropriate departments/locations. Prepares items for shipment ensuring cost effective courier services. Maintains field equipment calibrations. Manages sample retention warehouse and disposal of samples. Site Haz-Waste Specialist – which includes weekly site inspections and maintain storage regulations for both hazardous and universal waste according to TCEQ Regs.

  • Liase with coordinators, lab personnel, SGS locations, and vendors to ensure all requests are complete and correct with quality work

  • Manage sample disposal and maintain OSHA compliance through vendor pricing, scheduling HAZ/NON HAZ pickups and tracking annual waste totals

  • Order supplies and maintain inventory for the receiving department and waste management

  • Responsible for the facility’s fleet trucks. (Maintenance, registration and inspection)

  • Assign and manage access badges/H2S monitors for every employee at the laboratory

  • Maintain the facility’s security system by ensuring the entrance/exit gates and surveillance cameras are always functioning properly.

  • This position supervises employees and will be responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these individuals.

  • Responsible for hiring, and training employees; planning, scheduling, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems

  • Conduct monthly employee meetings to ensure that all personnel are completely informed, regarding policies, procedures and performance issues for their development and improvement.

  • Track and assign Safety Council courses and random drug tests are scheduled and current for all employees throughout the year. Manage and review timecards for direct reports, including approving time and PTO in timekeeping system  

  • High School degree or general education degree (GED). (Required)

  • 5+ years of transferable experience in shipping/ receiving or office management (Required)
