Underground Utility Technician

Delco Storm & Sewer | Lansdowne, PA

Underground utility work takes skill, judgment, and a willingness to take ownership of difficult jobs. At Delco Storm & Sewer, our technicians solve the problems homeowners cannot afford to ignore—from failed sewer laterals to damaged water services.

We’re looking for an Underground Utility Technician to install and repair residential sewer laterals and water service lines using both traditional trenching and trenchless methods. You’ll work with specialized equipment, learn advanced repair techniques, and be part of a team that values safe work, quality execution, and doing the job right the first time.

This is an opportunity to build a long-term career in a specialized trade with steady demand and clear room to grow. If you enjoy hands-on work, solving problems in the field, and seeing the results of your effort at the end of each day, Delco Storm & Sewer may be the right place for your next move.

What You’ll Do

  • Install, repair, and replace residential sewer laterals and water service lines.

  • Perform work using both open-trench and trenchless repair methods.

  • Excavate, expose, and prepare underground piping for repair or replacement.

  • Assist with pipe bursting, lining, boring, and other trenchless applications.

  • Install sewer, water, drainage, and related underground piping.

  • Identify utility conflicts, site conditions, and access concerns before work begins.

  • Operate excavation, compaction, cutting, pumping, and trenchless equipment safely.

  • Set grades, make pipe connections, test completed systems, and confirm proper operation.

  • Restore excavated areas, including backfilling, compaction, and site cleanup.

  • Protect customer property and maintain a clean, organized, and professional jobsite.

  • Follow trench safety, confined-space, utility-marking, and personal protective equipment requirements.

  • Maintain assigned tools, equipment, materials, and vehicle inventory.

  • Communicate job progress, material needs, and unexpected field conditions promptly.

  • Work closely with crew leaders, plumbers, equipment operators, and office staff.

  • Participate in required safety meetings, technical training, and company meetings.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous underground utility, sewer, water service, excavation, plumbing, or construction experience preferred.

  • Experience with sewer laterals, water services, trenching, or trenchless repair methods is a plus.

  • Strong mechanical ability and comfort working with tools and equipment.

  • Ability to read basic measurements, follow grades, and understand jobsite layouts.

  • Commitment to safe work practices and proper trench protection.

  • Dependable attendance, strong work ethic, and attention to detail.

  • Ability to follow direction and work effectively as part of a crew.

  • Professional communication and respect for customers and their property.

  • Ability to perform demanding physical work in varying weather and site conditions.

  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.

  • CDL, equipment operation experience, or plumbing knowledge is a plus.

Why Work at Delco Storm & Sewer?

  • Competitive compensation based on experience

  • Steady, year-round demand for essential services

  • Hands-on training in both trench and trenchless methods

  • Exposure to specialized equipment and repair technology

  • Opportunities to advance into crew leadership, equipment operation, or plumbing roles

  • Company-provided tools and equipment

  • Paid Time Off and Paid Holidays

  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance

  • 401(k) with Company Match

  • Ongoing Safety and Technical Training

  • Supportive, Team-Oriented Work Environment

  • The opportunity to develop a specialized and valuable trade skill

What Success Looks Like
