Full job description

Job Duties

Offset track:

Set up and operate Heidelberg SM72 six-color press with coater

Set up and operate two-color Heidelberg DZ

Prepare presses for production, including plates, ink, paper and coating requirements

Monitor color, registration, ink density and overall print quality throughout each run

Make press adjustments to maintain consistency and meet customer specifications

Perform washups, routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting

Maintain offset paper and pressroom supply inventories

Minimize waste while meeting production and quality expectations

Digital Track:

Set up and operate a Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 digital inkjet press

Review job specifications, files, paper requirements and finishing considerations

Load paper and prepare press for production

Monitor color, registration and overall print quality throughout each run

Make adjustments and work with prepress personnel to resolve production or file-related issues

Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting

Communicate with technical support and vendor representatives when necessary

Minimize waste while meeting production and quality expectations

Responsibilities for both tracks:

Read and understand job tickets, production instructions and customer specifications

Verify paper, quantities, color requirements and other job details before production

Perform quality checks throughout each production run

Maintain accurate and consistent work

Follow established safety and quality-control procedures

Keep presses and surrounding work areas clean, safe and organized

Communicate clearly with prepress, bindery and other production employees

Identify and report equipment, quality or scheduling issues

Maintain production records as required

Assist in other production departments when needed

Cross-train on additional printing equipment based on experience, interest and company needs

Minimum Education Required

High School diploma or GED

Minimum Experience Required

Candidates must have relevant experience in at least one of the following areas:

For offset:

Previous commercial offset experience

Experience operating Heidelberg equipment strongly preferred

Ability to set up and operate multicolor offset printing equipment

Understanding of ink, paper, plates, coating, registration and color control

Ability to operate or learn both the SM72 and DZ

For digital:

Previous production digital press experience

Experience with Konica Minolta AccurioJet KM-1 preferred but not required

Understanding of digital print production, paper handling, color and quality control

Ability to learn the KM-1's operation, maintenance and troubleshooting procedures

General:

Strong mechanical aptitude

Excellent attention to detail

Good organizational and time-management skills

Ability to prioritize work and meet production deadlines

Ability to read and follow job tickets and production instructions

Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 pounds

Willingness to assist in other production areas when needed

Qualified candidates will:
