Full job description

Your work will change lives. Including your own.

The Impact You’ll Make

As the Recursion clinical asset pipeline continues to mature through key inflection points, the advancing assets require leaders who can translate scientific complexity into strategic clarity. In the role of Executive Director, Asset Strategy Leadership, you will drive the strategic positioning of assets, ensuring that decisioning is grounded in competitive reality, differentiated by Recursion OS insights, and built to move with urgency for patient benefit. You will play a pivotal role ensuring advanced computational approaches and proprietary Recursion OS/ClinTech advantages are leveraged across the portfolio continuum, redefining traditional paradigms of drug development. Working across functional lines, you will partner with preclinical, clinical and platform teams, promoting communication, alignment and optimization of functional processes to ensure delivery of portfolio goals & transformative medicines for patients.

In this role, you will:

  • Define and drive asset strategy for small molecule clinical programs in oncology and immunology/inflammation — integrating competitive positioning, mechanistic differentiation, biomarker strategy, and patient segmentation to sharpen go/no-go and prioritization decisions across the portfolio
  • Translate Recursion OS and ClinTech insights into strategic asset advantages, ensuring proprietary data and computational insights are maximally enabling for advancement of the drug discovery and development portfolio
  • Develop and pressure-test the competitive narrative for each oncology and I&I portfolio asset, building the evidence base that will inform leadership decisions, partnering discussions and investor communications
  • Partner with functional line leaders across clinical development, BD, finance and platform teams to ensure resource allocation reflects strategic conviction and supports the most impactful programs and workstreams
  • Propagate the Recursion mindset of radically changing lives by continuously raising the bar on how assets are advanced, differentiated, and delivered to patients with significant unmet need The Team You’ll Join

As an Executive Director, Asset Strategy Leadership, you will work across the asset portfolio, operating as a senior strategic partner to leaders in Clinical Development, Discovery, ClinTech, Platform and BD. The Portfolio Team is execution-minded and analytically rigorous — fluent in both science and AI — and responsible for industrializing Recursion's innovative science to advance medicines that matter. We break traditional silos, leveraging AI-powered platforms across data analysis, predictive modeling, RWE integration and patient stratification, all with the goal of optimizing asset positioning for the greatest benefit to patients.

The Experience You’ll Need

  • A PhD in life sciences or related scientific discipline with deep expertise in drug discovery & development required
  • 10+ years of biotech/pharma experience with a proven track record of asset-level strategic leadership, advancing programs through clinical stage-gates with demonstrable impact on portfolio value
  • Deep expertise in the development of small molecule therapeutics for oncology and immunology/inflammation required, expertise in rare disease a bonus
  • Experience leveraging computational approaches and data-driven platforms to sharpen asset strategy and clinical decision-making
  • Proven ability to build and articulate the strategic and competitive case for clinical assets – integrating mechanistic differentiation, competitive dynamics, regulatory and market considerations.
  • Strong financial acumen; able to engage credibly on cross-functional resourcing, asset valuation, and portfolio trade-offs
  • Exceptional executive presence – able to synthesize complexity into clear, conviction-led recommendations and present with confidence to senior leadership and external partners Working Location & Compensation:
