SUMMARY

The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for performing ultrasound procedures on patients of every age utilizing approved techniques and producing quality scans for physician interpretation

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews medical record for patient history and clinical data for correlation with sonogram

  • Positions patient, explains procedure, and provides patient education

  • Performs ultrasound procedures on patients of every age utilizing approved protocol Displays knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, pathology, and/or physiological data to obtain optimal studies

  • Assumes care for physical and psychological needs of patients during procedure

  • Selects technical factors and imaging mode

  • Evaluates sonogram for technical quality and prepares for physician interpretation

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Medical Sonography Program

  • Current ARRT certification and/or Medical Sonography with registry eligibility

  • RDMS (Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer) preferred.

  • SKILLS: Ability to operate ultrasound equipment and produce quality images. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and employees within the organization.

  • Ultrasound experience preferred
