Remote

The employer lists the role as remote on its own career site. Olive keeps what the posting says instead of guessing from the description, so a listing that never says remote never becomes one here.

Country of hire

A remote role can still carry a country of hire: the employer takes people who can work from there. Most Olive employers are US-based, so most remote roles on Olive are worked from the United States. When a posting names no country, Olive shows the role as remote with the location unlisted.

Hybrid

Hybrid means some days at an office, so a hybrid listing keeps its city and shows up in searches near that city. A remote listing shows the country it can be worked from instead of an office address.

The default, and how to remove it

When a search leans remote, Olive scopes the remote results to the country you can work from and shows that scope as a chip: Remote from United States. A default on Olive is always a filter you can see, never a setting hidden behind the results.

The country comes from the most specific thing Olive knows: a saved location on your profile when you are signed in, otherwise the location in your search, then where your visit comes from, and the United States when nothing else is known.

Remove the chip and Olive shows remote roles without a country scope. Add a different country and the scope follows it. Either way the change is yours to make, and the results say which one is in effect.

What a remote card shows

A remote listing shows the country it can be worked from, such as Remote · US, never the office city the employer happens to be headquartered in. When the posting names no country, the card says Remote · location unlistedand the employer's own page is the place to confirm.

A hybrid listing keeps its city, because some days are spent there. It shows up in searches near that city and has its own filter, separate from remote.
