Full job description

Our Customer is a leading global, diversified information, services and media company with more than 360 businesses. Its major interests include various financial services, medical information and services businesses, and lastly, ownership in cable television networks such as A&E, HISTORY, Lifetime and ESPN; 33 television stations; 24 daily and 52 weekly newspapers; digital services businesses; and nearly 250 magazines around the world.

We are seeking a Learning & Development Specialist on a contract basis to support their business needs. This role is hybrid. Candidates can work out of Charlotte, NC or NYC, NY.

3 days onsite. Tuesdays are anchor days, employees choose the other two days they work onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct needs analyses to identify knowledge gaps and assess learning requirements
  • Design and develop multi-modal learning solutions
  • Write instructional materials for technical learning, including step-by-step documentation
  • Curate and customize partner and vendor content to meet specific business needs
  • Facilitate virtual and in-person instructor-led programs and presentations for a variety of audiences
  • Draft company-wide communications regarding technical changes and updates
  • Collaborate effectively within a highly collaborative team environment
  • Develop high-quality templates and processes for learning solutions
  • Stay current on industry trends to ensure learning solutions remain innovative and modern
  • Evaluate learning solutions for effectiveness and impact in partnership with the User Experience team

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience developing and facilitating virtual and in-person training and learning solutions
  • Prior customer service or project management experience preferred
  • Knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in education, instructional design, communications, or a related field preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to write and present clear, engaging technical instructions
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology platforms
  • Experience with or knowledge of learning management system administration preferred
  • Creative and innovative mindset with an interest in improving user engagement and technology adoption
  • Familiarity with generative AI tools preferred
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly in communications and documentation
