Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Flight Inspector – Level 2 or Level 3 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.

This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.

In this job, you will:

  • Performs analysis and tests of raw materials, packaging materials, and/or finished products from manufacturing, to ensure quality standards and compliance to customer and regulatory requirements, and tolerance specifications for the chemical or physical property.

  • Performs a variety of qualitative tests or qualitative assays on samples, and to aid in maintenance and certification of test instruments and apparatus to ensure compliance.

  • Prepares and monitors quality statistics and reports.

  • Reviews production records for conformance to procedures. Conducts non-conformance tests of manufactured, packaged or tested product.

  • Performs 1st article, in-process, and final inspection on machined or composite fabricated parts.

  • Reads part drawings with a high degree of GD&T understanding

  • Reviews, analyzes, and possesses knowledge and ability to use inspection equipment such as: Micrometers, Calipers, Height Gauges, Optical Comparators, etc.

  • Investigates problems and developing\recommending corrective actions for recurring discrepancies

  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, vendor and subcontractor representatives to ensure requirements are met

  • The ideal candidate must have a high-level understanding of composite assemblies, complex assemblies, and their associated mechanical manufacturing processes.

This position can be filled at either a Level 2 or Level 3.

Basic Qualifications for Level 2:

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • No clearance required to start

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Experience working with inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, or optical comparators, etc

  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate blueprints, specs, and other technical documents

  • Experience in one or more of the following: inspecting and generating discrepancy reports, composite fabrication or inspection, assembly structure inspection, proof load testing, vibration testing, and/or interfacing directly with customers .

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 4 years additional education and/or related experience.

  • No clearance required to start

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance

  • Experience working with inspection equipment such as micrometers, calipers, height gauges, or optical comparators, etcAbility to read, interpret, and communicate blueprints, specs, and other technical documents

  • Experience in one or more of the following: inspecting and generating discrepancy reports, composite fabrication or inspection, assembly structure inspection, proof load testing, vibration testing, and/or interfacing directly with customers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work 2nd Shift as needed

  • Experience with CMM/Romer Arm

  • Previous aerospace industry experience

  • Proficiency with SAP, CAPE, MEF, and Solumina software suites

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $72,600.00 - $121,000.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
