Job Description:

The Manager - Accounting functions as the primary daily liaison for accounting functions of the Accounting department and directs, manages the daily functions and activities of the Accounting department.

Essential Job Functions:

Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, provides feedback, addresses employee needs and initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Works with each direct report to establish goals and objectives for each year and monitor and advices on the progress to enhance the professional development of staff.

Data Analysis & Reporting

Performs a detailed comprehensive revenue analysis with the determination of proper reserves on a monthly basis.

Prepares support and documentation in organized fashion that can be easily reviewed by Accounting Director.

Reviews and approves on a timely basis all journal entries. Compiles monthly variance analysis and explanations.

Works with the Entity Finance Directors/Managers to understand significant variance and trends for the month.

Audits & Reporting

Assists Accounting Director in planning and coordinating external financial statements audit to ensure the audit is completed without significant deficiency findings from external auditors.

GL Analysis

Prepares periodic financial updates based on analysis of general ledger accounts and financial statements.

Recognizes potential issues related to the various accounts, identifies their cause, formulates possible solutions, communicates with Accounting Director, and follows through on the decided course of action.

Financial Transactions

Works closely with Accounting Director to enhance accounting systems to meet the System's needs to provide accurate and timely records of the financial transactions in a cost effective manner for each entity.

Helps scale the accounting functions of the System by implementing automated processes. Evaluates and refines processes to improve efficiency in the close process.

Accounting Due Diligence

Maintains an oversight function regarding books and records for specific John Muir Health’s entity.

Ensures accuracy and reliability in the general ledger and financial statements through adherence to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and Office of Statewide Planning and Development (OSHPD) guidelines.

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree - Accounting - Required

Experience:

  • Management - Supervisory Position - Required

Additional Experience:

  • Hospital Setting/Large Accounting Firm - Preferred

Certifications/Licensures:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) - Preferred

Skills:

  • Excellent technical, analytical and communication skills

Pay Range:

$143,587.00 - $215,380.00

Salary

Offer amounts are based on demonstrated/relevant experience and/or licensure.

Pay will be adjusted to the local market if hired outside of the Bay Area.

Note: Positions at JMH which are exempt (not eligible for overtime) under the level of Manager are listed as hourly for compensation purposes on this posting. The work shift will contain the word ‘exempt’ on it.
