Full job description

  • JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Education

  • MUST BE CURRENTLY LICENSED IN THE STATE OF ARKANSAS AS A REGISTERED NURSE.

  • Experience

  • Must have 12 months experience in clinical nursing, and an additional 6 months of experience in nursing care of the patient with permanent kidney failure or undergoing kidney transplantation, including training in and experience with the dialysis process; or has 12 months of experience in nursing care of the patient on maintenance dialysis, or in nursing care of the patient with a kidney transplant, including training in and experience with the dialysis process. If the nurse responsible for nursing service is in charge of self-care dialysis training, at least 3 months of the total required experience is in training patients in self-care. Must have leadership qualities, organizational abilities and demonstrate clinical proficiency. Must be able to communicate effectively with the patients as well as physicians and project a professional attitude toward patients, visitors and students and other staff members.

  • Normal hospital and/or outpatient environment. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Exposed to electrical, biological and chemical hazards. Operates ACT machine, dialysis machine, acid mixer, bicarbonate mixer, computer, crash cart, etc. Frequent standing, walking and bending. Lifting up to 100 lbs., carrying up to 40 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 350 lbs.

  • JOB SUMMARY

  • Directly responsible for nursing services in the clinical realm such as staffing, assessments, care plans, peer training and troubleshooting patient activities. Acts as charge nurse when PCM request. Assumes management responsibilities in the absence of Home Dialysis PCM. Acts as clinical role model and serves as resource person for information with both hemodialysis and Peritoneal Home Dialysis. Takes call on a rotating basis. Must conduct himself/herself in a professional manner and dress appropriately. Performs RN job description as needed. Routinely, accepts responsibly as staff. This position is required to utilize independent judgment.
