Job Title: Manufacturing Training Specialist - Weld & LEAN

Location: Urbana, OH

This role combines technical welding expertise, manufacturing training, safety instruction, and continuous improvement leadership. It is a hands-on position supporting production operations across multiple shifts while developing workforce capabilities.

Core Responsibilities

Design and deliver welding training programs for:

  • MIG

  • TIG

  • Stainless steel welding

  • Emerging welding technologies

Conduct annual welding recertifications and competency assessments.

Train and maintain qualifications for:

  • Forklift operations

  • Crane operations

  • Manufacturing safety programs

  • Lead and support LEAN / continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Investigate weld quality issues and support root-cause analysis efforts.

  • Implement corrective actions and on-the-job training (OJT) to improve quality and consistency.

Track training effectiveness, certifications, and compliance through systems such as:

  • AG5

  • SAP SuccessFactors

  • Other training/LMS platforms

Support onboarding and workforce development programs.

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Associate's degree in Welding Technology, Manufacturing Technology, Education, Human Resources Development, or related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and experience considered.

  • Minimum 5-7 years of welding industry experience, including training

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints is strongly preferred.

  • Familiarity with basic welding tools, techniques, and safety procedures.

Physical Requirements:

  • Stand at the weld station throughout the work shift.

  • Walk, bend, twist, and reach frequently during the shift.

  • Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds to waist level; frequently lift 25-40 pounds to waist level and up to 25 pounds above the shoulders.

  • Work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to adapt to changing assignments and multitask effectively.

Safety Requirements:

  • Wear Safety-toed footwear

  • Safety glasses with side shields

  • Hearing protection

  • Welding hood and protective clothing

Work Environment:

  • Manufacturing and welding areas with exposure to heat, sparks, fumes, and noise.
