Full job description

  • Serves as SCDCs Lead Curriculum Developer and Senior Technical Resource for instructional design and curriculum standards and quality assurance processes; leads the conversion of agency lesson plans to ITIP and other approved instructional design standards.
  • Advises agency leadership, instructors, and subject matter experts on training needs, curriculum effectiveness, assessment, and instructional methods.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
  • Participates in agency workgroups, professional development, accreditation activities, and other staff development and training center initiatives.
  • Advanced interpersonal verbal and written skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of training needs, assessment principles, processes and techniques.
  • Knowledge of relevant curriculum requirements and educational standards.
  • Incumbent must gain and maintain certification and performance standards for all necessary T4TS and ensure subordinates also maintain certifications.
  • Plans, develops, revises, and maintains agency curricula.
  • Directs the curriculum development function and supervises assigned staff.
  • Reviews curricula for compliance with laws, policies, procedures, training requirements and instructional standards.
  • Develops and reviews written tests, practical assessments, scenarios, scoring guides, and course evaluations.
  • Coordinates pilot testing and implementation of new or revised curricula.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements: A bachelor's degree and professional experience related to the position.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, curriculum and instruction, education, adult education, training and development, organizational development, criminal justice, or a related field and four (4) years of professional experience in curriculum development, instructional design, adult learning, training development, or a related field.

OR

  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • Experience must include development of adult-learning curriculum, application of recognized instructional design methodologies, development of learning objectives and assessments, and leadership of curriculum projects or work teams.

  • Prefer four (4) years of professional curriculum development experience be in corrections, law enforcement, the military, or another public-safety environment.

  • Experience applying ITIP and ADDIE, conducting training needs assessments and job-task analyses, and supervising staff or leading multidisciplinary curriculum development teams.
