Full job description

Overview

REI Co-op is a different kind of company. We put purpose before profit and work for the long-term good of our members.

As Senior Manager, Platform Product Management, you will lead and develop a team of five product managers responsible for a connected portfolio of data and digital experience platforms. The portfolio includes AI decisioning and segmentation, enterprise customer identity, experimentation and analytics, content and experience management, and data platforms that enable personalized and consistent experiences across REI.

This role combines people leadership, platform strategy, and portfolio management. You will help each product manager establish a strong vision and roadmap while ensuring platform investments work together, meet the needs of internal teams, and enable meaningful customer and business outcomes.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

  • Translate REI’s broader Personalization, Membership, and AI/Data strategy into a cohesive platform portfolio strategy, with clear priorities, outcomes, and investment choices.

  • Lead and develop five product managers at different career stages. Set clear expectations and decision rights, strengthen product-management craft, and create leverage through the team.

  • Connect individual platform roadmaps, manage cross-platform dependencies, and make sequencing, tradeoffs, risks, and expected value visible to leaders and partner teams.

  • Establish strong discovery and feedback practices with the teams that use platform capabilities, ensuring roadmaps address meaningful needs and enable scalable solutions.

  • Partner with engineering, architecture, data science, design, marketing, commerce, membership, and customer-experience leaders to align platform direction and navigate technical and organizational tradeoffs.

  • Communicate vision, progress, decisions, risks, and outcomes clearly to senior leaders and partner teams.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 12 or more years in product management. This must include work as the owner of large tech or platform products.

  • 3 or more years as a people leader. This must include work with product managers at different career stages.

  • Skill in learning how systems and data work. You can explain design choices, needs, risks, and tradeoffs in plain terms.

  • Skill in bringing people with different views together. You can build shared goals and help a group make clear choices.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work with customer or identity data, test tools, web content tools, digital experience tools, or tools that tailor content.

  • Work in retail across stores and digital channels, member products, or large digital products for customers.
