Job Description Summary

GE Vernova’s Gas Power Engineering organization is building the next generation of technical capability across a global workforce. The Technical Learning Office sits at the center of that mission, shaping how engineers are onboarded, developed, and enabled to contribute quickly and effectively. How fast new engineers become productive, how consistently teams develop talent across regions, how training scales in a complex global environment, and how leadership measures readiness and impact all depend on the operational systems this role will build and own.

We are seeking an Onboarding & Training Operations Lead to take full ownership of the engineer onboarding journey and the training operations engine that powers the organization. This is not a coordination-only role. It is a highly visible operational leadership opportunity for someone who thrives on building structure, driving execution, influencing across functions, and continuously improving critical talent systems. It is also a strong path into broader leadership within GE Vernova, with direct exposure to senior stakeholders, enterprise-level operating mechanisms, and clear growth trajectories into senior operations, program strategy, learning transformation, or Lean/continuous improvement leadership.

If you are the kind of person who sees ambiguity as an opportunity, creates order from complexity, and wants to own a function that directly impacts engineering productivity, retention, and organizational scale, this role is for you.

The required work location is Greenville, SC or Schenectady, NY (relocation assistance provided if not already local)

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • 1) Engineer Onboarding Experience You will own the end-to-end onboarding experience for engineers joining Gas Power Engineering globally and ensure it is structured, scalable, and high impact. You will:

  • Build and continuously improve a structured 30/60/90-day onboarding journey with clear milestones, role clarity, stakeholder touchpoints, and accountability

  • Partner with hiring managers, HR, IT, and regional teams to ensure every new engineer has what they need to ramp quickly and successfully

  • Establish and manage processes for buddy/mentor assignment, onboarding communications, milestone tracking, and new hire support

  • Identify gaps, friction points, and inconsistencies in the onboarding experience and drive improvements that measurably improve speed-to-productivity and retention

  • 2) Training Operations Excellence You will run the operating engine behind technical and professional training delivery across the organization, including Edison Engineering Development Program, Cultivate, and Technical Learning. You will:

  • Own the full program and training operations lifecycle, including intake, planning, scheduling, participant management, facilitator coordination, delivery support, and post-session follow-up

  • Manage the master training calendar across programs, regions, and delivery formats

  • Coordinate with facilitators, SMEs, vendors, and internal partners to ensure a high-quality learner experience

  • Drive operational discipline across session setup, communications, logistics, materials, attendance tracking, and issue resolution

  • Support and co-deliver select learning sessions in areas such as innovation, systems thinking, Lean, and professional development

  • 3) Metrics, Insights, and Continuous Improvement You will bring operational rigor and performance visibility to onboarding and training, using data to improve outcomes and scale what works. You will:

  • Build and maintain KPI dashboards for onboarding and training performance

  • Track and report metrics such as participation, completion, learner satisfaction, milestone adherence, and program effectiveness

  • Implement structured feedback loops including surveys, milestone check-ins, and learner insights

  • Translate data into actionable recommendations and improvement priorities

  • Standardize, template, automate, and simplify processes where possible to improve efficiency and scalability

  • Benchmark practices internally and externally to continuously raise the quality of the function

  • 4) Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance You will serve as the operational connector across multiple functions and help ensure this work is executed with clarity, consistency, and credibility. You will:

  • Partner across Engineering, HR, Finance, IT, Legal, and regional leadership to drive alignment and execution

  • Own operational governance including cadences, SOPs, documentation, communications, and knowledge management

  • Prepare executive-ready updates and reporting that clearly communicate progress, risks, and impact

  • Support business cases and decision-making with operational data and insights

  • Bring structure, accountability, and follow-through to a highly cross-functional environment

  • 5) EEDP & Cultivate Program Operations You will serve as the operations lead supporting two of Gas Power Engineering’s signature talent development programs: the Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) and Cultivate. Your role ensures these programs run with the structure, logistics, and continuous improvement rigor they require to develop world-class engineers. You will:

  • Coordinate rotation selection processes and assignment logistics for EEDP and Cultivate participants, ensuring smooth transitions between rotations, sites, and managers

  • Serve as the primary operations contact for assignment leaders, supporting scheduling, communications, and issue resolution throughout each rotation cycle

  • Drive continuous improvement for both programs by tracking participant feedback, identifying process gaps, and implementing changes that strengthen the program experience

  • Own onsite logistics for ACE (A-Course and B-Course in-house training accredited for master’s degree credit), including scheduling, conference room booking, materials preparation, and day-of coordination

  • Support participants relocating between sites by coordinating move logistics, onboarding at new locations, and ensuring continuity of the participant experience

  • Manage program swag, branded materials, and event coordination for EEDP and Cultivate milestones, cohort launches, and recognition events

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, or a related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in engineering, onboarding, program management, learning operations, or training operations with proven track record owning end-to-end operational processes in a matrixed environment, with strong stakeholder management, cross-functional communication, and the ability to drive execution across multiple priorities with discipline and urgency

  • Familiarity with GE Vernova systems (Workday, Learning Hub) or similar enterprise platforms

  • Facilitation experience and confidence co-delivering training sessions

  • Working knowledge of Lean fundamentals, including standard work, 5S, and structured problem solving

  • Experience building KPI dashboards and using data to drive program improvements
