Surety Account Manager, Processor Team LeadSummary

The Surety Account Manager is responsible for managing client relationships, overseeing surety account service activities, and providing leadership and direction to the Surety Processing team. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders while ensuring the accurate and timely issuance, renewal, and servicing of surety bonds. The Surety Account Manager drives operational excellence through workflow management, quality control, staff development, and process improvement while delivering exceptional client service and maintaining strong carrier relationships.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, surety carriers, producers, and internal business partners.

  • Participate in client meetings and provide consultative support regarding bond programs, renewals, and service needs.

  • Lead the review of surety proposals, bond documentation, renewal information, and carrier source documents for accuracy and completeness.

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Surety Processing team, including workflow distribution, prioritization, and quality assurance.

  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to surety processors to support performance, productivity, and professional development.

  • Monitor departmental service standards and ensure timely completion of bond issuance, renewals, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.

  • Manage and maintain client records, bond schedules, policy information, and supporting documentation within agency management systems and carrier portals.

  • Review and approve bond requests, renewal processing, invoices, finance agreements, and related surety transactions.

  • Coordinate the issuance of new and renewal bonds, including bid, performance, payment, maintenance, and miscellaneous bonds.

  • Track bond renewals and ensure all required documentation and billing information is processed accurately and within established service timelines.

  • Address client service issues, billing inquiries, and bond-related concerns while collaborating with carriers and internal departments as needed.

  • Assist with process development, workflow enhancements, and operational efficiency initiatives to improve overall team performance.

  • Maintain compliance with agency procedures, carrier requirements, and regulatory guidelines.

  • Support special projects and departmental initiatives as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of surety bonds, bond administration processes, and surety industry practices.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to motivate, coach, and develop team members.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong client relationship management and customer service skills.

  • Ability to make sound independent decisions and exercise professional judgment.

  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with clients, carriers, producers, and internal teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Experience working with agency management systems and carrier platforms preferred.

  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and technology.

Education and Experience

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience required; Bachelor's degree preferred.

  • 3+ years of insurance industry experience, including surety account management, surety operations, or related client service experience.

  • Previous leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience preferred.

  • Experience managing bond issuance, renewals, and surety servicing activities preferred.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration

  • Property & Casualty Insurance License required or obtainable within 30 days of hire.

  • Surety-specific industry designations or advanced insurance certifications are a plus.
