Introduction

Your role and responsibilities

Application Developer, IBM Corporation, Armonk, NY and various unanticipated client sites throughout the US (Up to 60% telecommuting permitted):

  • Perform impact analysis for proposed enhancements to legacy and new applications.

  • Analyze business requirements and develop technical solutions to meet defined system needs.

  • Prepare functional and technical design specifications for application enhancements.

  • Conduct gap analysis and data analysis to support system design and implementation decisions.

  • Develop and maintain mainframe batch programs, copybooks, jobs, and procedures to support enterprise systems, data processing, and transaction workflows.

  • Design, modify, and support online mainframe applications using CICS programs and screens.

  • Generate operational and analytical reports using Job Control Language (JCL), SYNCSORT data sorting utilities, and EZTRIEVE reporting utilities.

  • Debug, test, and implement application components using standard mainframe debugging and testing tools.

  • Create and execute unit test data and batch jobs using Job Control Language (JCL).

  • Support system, user acceptance, and performance testing by assisting with test data preparation and execution.

  • Review program code, test cases, and test results to ensure compliance with established coding and quality standards.

  • Provide technical guidance to project teams through code review and testing feedback.

  • Coordinate project activities and support delivery timelines, issue resolution, risk management, and scope control.

  • Utilize: Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL), Customer Information Control System (CICS), Job Control Language (JCL), Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), z/OS Connect, Agile Methodology.

Required: Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related (employer will accept a Bachelor's degree plus five (5) years of progressive experience in lieu of a Master’s degree) and one (1) year of experience as a Software Developer or related. One (1) year of experience must include utilizing Common Business-Oriented Language (COBOL), Customer Information Control System (CICS), Job Control Language (JCL), Virtual Storage Access Method (VSAM), Medicaid Management Information System (MMIS), z/OS Connect, Agile Methodology. $193461 to $228461 per year. Full time. AV221.

Required technical and professional expertise
