Standard Job Description
You will be the Senior Manufacturing Robotics Engineer (Second Shift) for the Missile Assembly team at Pike County Operations (PCO) in Troy, Alabama. Our team is responsible for creating innovative factory automation / robotic solutions that safely produce complex missile systems.
What You Will Be Doing
As the Senior Manufacturing Robotics Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying robotic and industrial‑automation solutions that enable high‑mix, high‑value missile production.
Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Partner with missile designers, production operations, and stakeholders to design and integrate robotic, conveyor, vision, and control systems.

Perform hands‑on integration and commissioning of robots, end‑of‑arm tools, and related equipment.

Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, procedures, and layouts to maximize quality, safety, and efficiency.

Lead the lifecycle of automated solutions from concept through implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement.

Ensure all designs comply with government regulations, company command media, industrial safety standards, and engineering requirements.

Security Clearance Requirement
MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must possess an active Interim-Secret clearance to start.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering/Science, Physics, or other related discipline with 5 years of professional experience integrating and supporting factory automation and robotics for industrial use.
Must be willing and able to work second shift Monday thru Thursday 1530 to 0200.
Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and retain a U.S. DoD Secret Security Clearance. Lockheed Martin will assist selected candidate with obtaining at least an Interim Secret Clearance prior to starting.
Must be able to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (“ATF”) background investigation to obtain “employee possessor” approval (of explosives or other ATF-regulated items) as defined by ATF regulations. Failure to obtain and retain employee possessor status may result in revocation of an offer and loss of employment.
Desired Skills
Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and/or specifications.
Daily experience supporting various robotic applications (collaborative, material removal/finishing, material handling, and painting).
Working knowledge of Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation) programmable logic controllers (PLC) SLC 500 & ControlLogix5000, Ladder Logic, FANUC robotics and controls.
Proven project management skills of various automation and robotic projects from concept through final commissioning in a manufacturing factory environment.
Experience integrating machine‑vision systems (e.g., Cognex, Keyence) and sensor suites (force/torque, proximity, RFID) into robotic cells for quality inspection and adaptive control.
Knowledge of Ethernet/IP for integrating robots and PLCs into IIoT.
Experience applying Lean, Six Sigma, or Kaizen principles to robotic line optimization, downtime reduction, and throughput enhancement.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00

Annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs may be offered depending on the position. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and can vary from year to year and are tied to a range of performance metrics.

For (Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
