Full job description

The Team

The Innovation & Delivery Transformation (I&DT) team is building the future of Deloitte's business through new AI-native platforms and products. The team is responsible for identifying, nurturing, scaling, and winning in new markets through new capabilities. Rather than relying on what the firm has historically done, I&DT looks ahead and invests in areas where growth is expected three, five, and ten years into the future.

Are you looking for a unique opportunity with both start-up spirit AND enterprise strength? Deloitte's Converge for FSI business offers both! We are looking for a talented individual with an innovative mindset to join the Converge for FSI team in our mission to develop differentiated financial services products that achieve product-market fit. This role is focused on Fund & Investment Operations, an integrated, AI-enabled platform delivering oversight of fund and investment operation, transparency into service provider performance and production engine for regulatory reporting, data management and compliance.

This is a great opportunity to be on the frontlines of Deloitte's innovation & product strategy while staying close to industry/sector priorities.

Position Summary

We are looking for a highly skilled and client-facing Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) to sit at the intersection of engineering excellence and customer partnership. In this role, you will embed directly with our most strategic clients - particularly in the financial services sector - to understand their toughest technical challenges and help them design and implement world-class solutions using our platform. This is a high-impact, high-visibility role with direct influence on product direction. You will bring the client's data products to life and solve real problems that only surface when a platform meets production data.

You are equally comfortable whiteboarding microservices architecture with a client's principal engineer, running a hands-on technical workshop for a team of developers, and standing up a compelling proof-of-concept in days. You thrive in fast-moving, high-stakes environments and know how to earn the trust of deeply technical stakeholders.

Recruiting for this role ends on 10/31/2026.

Work you'll do

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for strategic client accounts, building deep relationships with architects, engineers, and technical leaders

  • Lead discovery sessions to understand client architectures, pain points, and business objectives

  • Translate complex functional concepts into clear, compelling narratives for both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Look at trends in the market and experiment, bringing new ideas into the Product roadmap

  • Collaborate with client architects and implementation teams to configure and publish data products

  • Work hands-on with implementation teams to define data product structure including schema, ownership, SLAs, quality expectations, and governance attributes

  • Independently structure and clean large-scale financial data and load into the tool's models

  • Enable implementation teams to self-serve data product creation over time and increase the configurability in the process

  • Run office hours, enablement sessions, and targeted training to help teams build confidence independently

  • Review and advise on client system designs, identifying risks and recommending best practices

  • Experience coordinating across time zones and operating on a onshore, near shore, offshore model

  • Produce high-quality technical documentation, runbooks, and integration guides

  • Accelerate client time-to-value by enabling their teams to build confidently and independently

  • Act as the voice of the customer - surface product gaps, integration friction, and feature requests to internal product and engineering teams

The successful candidate would possess these skills:

  • Technical Stack: Strong proficiency in SQL, Python, bonus Java Springboot, ReactJS

  • Understanding of data product concepts including schema design, data ownership, SLAs, quality frameworks, and governance

  • Experience building LLM-powered agentic systems that use tools, execute multi-turn workflows, manage state, and recover from errors, with a strong understanding of token economics and how to optimize cost and latency across model calls.

  • Hands-on experience with microservices design principles: service decomposition, API design, resiliency patterns, observability

  • Experience working with structured data and unstructured data

  • Experience with data governance, data cataloguing, metadata management platforms, and data quality validation frameworks

  • Proficiency across multi-cloud environments, with AWS as a primary platform; working knowledge of Azure and GCP. Interest in staying current with the rapidly evolving AI/ML landscape and translating it into client-relevant use cases

  • Exceptional communicator - able to lead technical conversations with senior engineers and C-suite stakeholders alike

  • Strong facilitation skills for running workshops, design reviews, and working sessions

  • Self-directed, pro-active, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple client implementations simultaneously

  • Natural curiosity and a bias for building - you'd rather spin up a demo than write a slide about one

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent field.

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time spent in client-facing, solutions engineering, or field engineering roles specifically in the Investment Management industry

  • Ability to travel 20-25%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with concepts like AUM, NAV, positions/transactions, Reg Reporting or portfolio accounting is a strong plus, though not required to start.

  • Familiarity with financial data platforms

  • Experience with AWS-based data infrastructure (EMR, S3, Glue) or Snowflake

  • Experience working in a start-up or product company with a strong sense of building reusable but configurable Products.
