Full job description

About GlobalFoundries GlobalFoundries is a leading full-service semiconductor foundry providing a unique combination of design, development, and manufacturing services to some of the world's most innovative technology companies. With a global manufacturing footprint spanning three continents, GlobalFoundries enables the technologies and systems that transform industries and create new markets. Summary of Role: The Quantum Integration Engineer (SMTS) is a senior technical contributor within the Quantum Product Development organization responsible for development and integration of semiconductor technologies that enable scalable quantum computing systems. This role provides technical leadership across multiple engineering disciplines including semiconductor device integration, BEOL interconnect technology, photonics integration, advanced packaging, cryogenic interfaces, and quantum hardware process development. The successful candidate will drive integration architecture decisions, establish experimental roadmaps, and lead execution of development programs that transition emerging quantum concepts into manufacturable technologies. The position serves as a key technical interface across device engineering, process development, manufacturing, modeling, design enablement, packaging, reliability, and external partners. Essential Responsibilities: Technical Leadership Lead development of semiconductor integration architectures supporting quantum computing platforms. Define integration strategies spanning front-end devices, BEOL routing, photonic interfaces, advanced packaging, interconnect technologies, and quantum-specific process modules. Develop and maintain technology roadmaps supporting long-term scalability, manufacturability, and qualification of quantum hardware. Identify critical technology gaps and drive closure plans through internal development and external collaborations. Integration Development Lead definition and execution of integrated process flows, module interactions, process windows, and technology learning cycles. Drive integration optimization using DOE methodologies, statistical analysis, and yield learning techniques. Establish integration checkpoints, performance metrics, and technical success criteria. Evaluate technology tradeoffs involving performance, manufacturability, reliability, yield, cost, and scalability. Cross-Functional Execution Collaborate closely with device engineering, process module teams, manufacturing, reliability, modeling, design enablement, and packaging organizations. Translate quantum system requirements into actionable semiconductor technology requirements and development plans. Support customer and partner engagements through technical presentations, roadmap discussions, and program reviews. Contribute to externally funded programs, strategic partnerships, and joint development agreements. Data Analysis and Problem Solving Analyze electrical, physical, reliability, and metrology data to identify integration challenges and improvement opportunities. Lead root-cause investigations and corrective action planning for integration-related issues. Develop predictive models and learning frameworks that accelerate technology maturation. Mentorship and Technical Influence Mentor junior engineers and MTS-level contributors. Provide technical guidance across integration disciplines. Influence organizational technical direction through expert knowledge and demonstrated execution. Contribute to invention disclosures, publications, patents, and technology strategy planning. Other Responsibilities: Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs. Required Qualifications: Associates Degree, BS, MS, or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or related technical discipline. 15+ years of semiconductor process integration, technology development, or advanced manufact ring
