Summary

This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located at the Directorate of Emergency Services at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. Ft Leonard Wood is located in the beautiful South-Central Missouri Ozarks.

Duties

  • Serves as the subject matter expert for traffic collision response, investigations, reconstruction and traffic management operations.
  • Applies advanced technical and analytical competences through the use of advanced specialized equipment and procedures while conducting traffic collision response,
  • and investigations and reconstruction that result in major property damage and/or serious injury or death.
  • Assists and guides military and civilian police officers that do not specialize in traffic control, special event support, and collision investigations.
  • Advises supervisors on traffic management issues impacting readiness and traffic movement of the installation.
  • Collects and preserves evidence, conducts short-term and long-term investigations on criminal cases and analyze facts to identify suspects and develops case information.
  • Appears in court to testify as required in Military Court Martials or Federal and State Court proceedings.

Qualifications

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Additional information about transcripts is in this document. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience in the federal service which include 1) Following police law enforcement procedures and traffic investigation; 2) The apprehension and interrogation of suspects committing violent and non-violent crimes while protecting evidence collected from the crime scene; and 3) Adhering to laws and regulations with police law enforcement operations, practices, and techniques, while maintaining the order of protecting life and property. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07).

Education

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone -- no substitution of education for experience is permitted. How You Will Be Evaluated
