Full job description

About Hobbes Most B2B websites put a form between a buyer and the product they want to understand. Hobbes lets that buyer start a conversation. Hobbes is a self-improving, autonomous product expert that runs personalized product demos 24/7. Buyers can experience the product, ask specific questions, and take the next step without waiting for a salesperson. Our agents use the product’s code as their source of truth, combined with sales context, customer materials, and live conversations. We call this Product Intelligence: understanding what a product does, how it works, and where its value lies. Every conversation also gives the company new insight into buyer questions, objections, feature requests, and implementation blockers—our Conversational Intelligence. We have secured $6M in funding and have tripled since February, mostly on inbound. One customer 2x'd their revenue within 8 weeks of deploying Hobbes. Another closed a deal within 2-hours of Hobbes going live on their site. Demos are where we start. Our vision is the future of autonomous sales and self-improving products, with agent-to-agent sales, world models, and self-improving product feedback loops all in the works. About the Role We're hiring our first in-house Founding BDR. The job is straightforward: pick up the phone, talk to prospects, and create qualified opportunities. You won't spend your day building lists, researching accounts, writing cold emails, or managing sequences. As an AI-native company, we have systems and agents doing that work for you. We want you incredibly productive at the part of outbound that still benefits most from a great human: having a conversation. You'll work directly with our Founding GTM Lead and have a front-row seat to how we build the sales organization at Hobbes. This is a high-activity role. We'll give you a power dialer, great accounts to call, context on why you're calling them, and messaging to start with. Your job is to turn that into conversations and pipeline.

What You'll Do

  • Cold call prospects

  • Start conversations with executives and GTM leaders at B2B software companies

  • Turn cold calls into curiosity, meetings, and qualified sales opportunities

  • Own outbound prospects until they show up for their first sales conversation

  • Learn our buyers, their problems, and the Hobbes story incredibly well

  • Test different talk tracks, objections, hooks, and positioning

  • Give fast feedback on what's working and what isn't

  • Work directly with our Founding GTM Lead on new campaigns, target segments, and flagship accounts. If there's a campaign you're excited about, we'll use agents to build it out.

What Makes You a Great Fit

  • You enjoy cold calling. You're relentless, and rejection does not bother you.

  • You're great live. You think on your feet. You listen. You don't sound robotic. You can create curiosity without reading a script word-for-word.

  • You're competitive. You like having a number to hit and knowing exactly how you're performing.

  • You're coachable. We'll listen to calls together. We'll change messaging. We'll test new approaches constantly. You want feedback because you want to get better.

  • You're comfortable with an early-stage company. The playbook isn't finished. You're joining us to help build it.

  • You're AI-native. You want agents and software doing as much administrative work as possible so you can spend more time selling.

  • You're an early riser. We start calling around 7:30 a.m. Pacific so we can reach East Coast accounts during their morning.

Previous SDR / BDR experience is a plus, but it isn't the thing we're optimizing for. We'd rather hire someone hungry, competitive, articulate, and exceptional on the phone than someone with the perfect SaaS resume who'd rather hide behind email. If you want to become exceptional at outbound sales and help build an AI-first revenue organization from the beginning, we'd love to meet you.

What We Offer

  • Base: $90-110K

  • OTE: $130-160K (uncapped commission)

  • Equity: Founding-caliber

  • Location: In-person, San Francisco (5 days / week)

  • Benefits:

  • Fully covered medical, dental, and vision, plus unlimited PTO.

  • Fully covered gym membership and longevity assessments

  • Daily lunches and dinners, snacks, and espresso at our San Francisco office in Levi Plaza.

Our Hiring Process We’ll start with an introductory call with our GTM Lead, followed by a conversation with our co-founder and CEO. You’ll then join us onsite in San Francisco for an office tour, conversations with the founders, a product deep dive, and a practical exercise.
