Full job description

Cognizant is working on moving workloads from on-premises data centers to AWS, and we are looking for an Enterprise Architect with hands-on AWS infrastructure experience who has led that journey before. This role is about moving environments to the cloud, not simply operating workloads that already live there. Some of what you will move goes well beyond applications, and some of it is legacy.

You will be a key member of our Cloud Center of Excellence and a trusted partner to our SRE and DevOps teams, helping us build and automate an enterprise-class cloud environment while holding a high engineering bar. Because we operate in a heavily regulated financial services setting, security is part of every decision you make and every solution you recommend.

What You Will Do

  • Build and automate an enterprise-class cloud environment on AWS.

  • Apply deep technical knowledge to lead, develop and automate our cloud services.

  • Architect and optimize cloud workloads for resilience, security, performance and cost.

  • Plan and guide the migration of on-premises workloads to AWS, selecting the right approach for each one rather than defaulting to lift-and-shift.

  • Re-platform and modernize as part of migration, including upgrading operating systems and, where it makes sense, re-architecting applications for the cloud.

  • Serve as a key resource for the Cloud Center of Excellence, consistently challenging and raising our engineering excellence bar.

  • Support our SRE and DevOps teams with architecture guidance, CI/CD, monitoring and observability.

  • Build security into every design, from VPC and subnet layout through to deployment pipelines.

What You Bring

  • Migration experience: a track record of moving on-premises environments, including legacy applications, to AWS. You can clearly explain the challenges you faced, the alternatives you weighed and why you chose the path you did.

  • Modernization mindset: you have re-platformed, upgraded operating systems in the cloud, or re-architected workloads, because moving outdated environments as they add little value.

  • AWS architecture and services: strong command of core AWS services, and a solid understanding of VPC structure, subnet layout and how AWS networking fits together. You do not need to be a network specialist.

  • Security first: security is second nature in your designs and recommendations, ideally in a regulated industry.

  • DevOps and SRE: working knowledge of DevOps practices and Site Reliability Engineering, including monitoring and observability.

  • Containerization: Docker, Kubernetes and Amazon ECS.

  • CI/CD: pipeline management, with Jenkins experience.

  • Infrastructure as code and scripting: Terraform and AWS CloudFormation; Python, Bash and PowerShell.

  • Cloud security: practical experience applying security controls in AWS.

  • Certification: AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate at a minimum. Professional level is preferred.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • AWS and Microsoft certifications.

  • Experience leading enterprise cloud migrations.

  • Experience automating large-scale enterprise application deployments in the cloud.

  • Serverless architecture experience.

The base salary range for this role is between $142,000 and $167,000 depending on skills and qualifications of the candidate. Applications will be accepted till 11/04/2026.
