Full job description
We aren't a high-volume parcel dock where you sit at a desk watching conveyor belts, scanning barcodes, and managing 50 people on a headset.
T&M Services is a $10M+ commercial furniture installation and logistics partner operating across the Midwest. Our Des Moines facility isn't just a place to store boxes, it's the operational hub for large commercial furniture builds, corporate relocations, and decommissions.
We are looking for a Warehouse Supervisor / Shipping & Receiving Lead who thrives in a part-management, part-"get shit done" dynamic. You will completely own the floor, the inventory, and the driver interactions. When a truck hits the dock, you’re jumping on the forklift or pulling freight (oftentimes as a solo endeavor).
At its core, your mission is execution: ensuring the exact right product gets to the right job site at the right time. When 10 field installers arrive on a job site at 7:00 AM, they rely on your staging accuracy to work. If a piece is missing, a project stalls. You are the quarterback that makes field execution possible.
What Makes It Great
-
Total Autonomy: You own this space. No corporate red tape, no micromanagers staring over your shoulder, and no five-layer approval chains to make a simple floor decision.
-
You See the Direct Impact: You aren't moving anonymous cardboard boxes. You manage job lots, track high-end commercial inventory, and communicate directly with customers and project managers. When your warehouse runs tight, field crews succeed and the whole company wins.
-
Respect & Grounded Culture: The people you work with are straightforward, hard-working, and down-to-earth. Good work gets noticed instantly here.
Keeping it 100%
-
Zero Room for "Close Enough": Precision matters. A misplaced box or unverified Bill of Materials means a field crew is stranded without the right parts. You have to be meticulous about piece counts, BOM documentation, and hardware staging under pressure.
-
Sweat Required: This is not a desk job. You aren't just directing traffic; you are physically pulling freight, unboxing crates, and loading/unloading trucks. You need the capacity to consistently lift 100+ lbs—frequently on your own.
-
The "Dirty" Work is Yours: There is no janitorial crew coming behind you. Tracking down missing field tools, sweeping dust off the staging lanes, organizing hardware bins, and hauling cardboard to the dumpster fall on you.
-
Tight Timelines & Chaos: Inbound freight drivers show up late, field leads need emergency tool drop-offs, and staging lanes get cramped. You have to stay cool, think on your feet, and adjust on the fly without getting flustered.
-
The Alarm Goes Off Early: We’re rolling by 7:00 AM. If waking up early is a struggle, this won't be the right fit.
What You Need to Hit the Ground Running
-
Tech Proficiency: Real experience and comfort around a computer, using a Warehouse Management System to log inventory, process Bills of Materials (BOM), track staging lanes, and issue accurate receiving tickets to clients.
-
Forklift Mastery: High confidence operating a sit-down forklift safely in tight staging setups.
Pay Range: $24 – $28 / hour to start, with room to grow with the company.
