Job Title: Adjunct Instructor – Nursing (Part-Time)Agency: Atlanta Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000006381Shift: Any (United States of America)Compensation Details: $40.00 PER HOUR Job Description: Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for its Adjunct Instructor – Nursing (Part-Time) – position in the Academic and Student Affairs division, Health and Public Safety Technology department. This position is located at Atlanta Tech's Main campus just south of Downtown Atlanta.

Under the general supervision of the Dean of Health and Public Safety Technology, the Adjunct Instructor – Nursing (Part-Time) – position requires a passion for teaching, student engagement, and supporting students in achieving their academic and professional goals in nursing and related healthcare fields. Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions of employment appointed on a per academic term basis, up to twenty-nine (29) hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate teaching techniques.

  • Demonstrate the use of appropriate testing and grading procedures, including proper maintenance of grade books and any other appropriate record-keeping requirements.

  • Knowledge of current procedures in nursing field.

  • Prepare and deliver quality curriculum with daily instruction of students in the classroom and clinical settings.

  • Follow approved curriculum standards and course syllabi.

  • Monitor student use of supplies, materials and equipment.

  • Advise and counsel students and maintain appropriate advisement records on each student.

  • Maintain classrooms and laboratories in accordance with approved classroom and lab management plans.

  • Attend meetings as required.

  • Assist students with recruitment and job placement.

  • Serve on committees.

  • Maintain qualifications for employment as defined by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.

  • Follow rules and regulations as defined by the Technical College System of Georgia and other policies and procedures established by Atlanta Technical College.

  • Assist in the development of reports and other requirements for the Georgia Board of Nursing; and

  • Performs additional duties, as assigned.

COMPETENCIES:

  • Skill in developing lesson outlines and materials.

  • Skill in presenting subject matter.

  • Skill in administering tests to evaluate progress.

  • Skill in the use of computers and job-related software programs.

  • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with adult learners.

  • Knowledge of student information systems.

  • Oral and written communication skills.

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited college or university.

  • Three (3) years of strong clinical experience in acute patient care, OB, Pediatrics, Medical- Surgical and/or emergency or trauma conditions.

  • Knowledge and understanding of human pathophysiology.

  • Valid Georgia State Licensure as a Registered Nurse.

  • Basic Lide Support (BLS) certification by American Heart Association.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference may be given to candidates who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Doctoral Degree in Nursing or Education (PhD, DNP, EdD).

  • Four (4) or more years of full-time work experience in medical surgical nursing, acute patient care, OB, Pediatrics, or emergency room.

  • Minimum of one (1) year full-time teaching in an Associate Degree Nursing or Bachelor of Science Degree Nursing program.
