Job Description

Our client is seeking an Associate Attorney to join their growing Medical Malpractice Defense practice in Glendale, CA. This individual will work directly with Managing Shareholders and senior attorneys defending physicians, hospitals, and healthcare providers in complex medical negligence matters.

The Associate Attorney will assist with litigation matters from inception through resolution, including discovery, depositions, motion practice, hearings, mediation, and trial preparation. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career attorney seeking mentorship, meaningful responsibility, and long-term career growth within a well-established California defense firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing medical malpractice and civil defense cases from inception through resolution.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery requests, and legal correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research and case analysis.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, hearings, mediations, and trial preparation.
  • Communicate with clients, insurance carriers, experts, and opposing counsel.
  • Support case strategy development and risk assessment efforts.
  • Maintain accurate case files and litigation documentation.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, paralegals, and legal support staff.

Location: Glendale, CA (Hybrid - 1 Remote Day Per Week)

Compensation: $120,000-$165,000 based + sign on bonus + uncapped bonus potential

Skills and Requirements

  • Active California State Bar License in good standing.
  • 1-3+ years of legal experience (newly admitted attorneys may be considered).
  • Civil litigation, insurance defense, workers' compensation defense, or medical malpractice defense experience.
  • Strong legal research, writing, and motion practice skills.
  • Experience drafting pleadings, discovery, and litigation documents.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid environment.
  • Medical Malpractice Defense experience.
  • Insurance Defense experience.
  • Workers' Compensation Defense experience.
  • Experience representing physicians, hospitals, or healthcare providers.
  • Deposition, hearing, mediation, or trial preparation experience.
  • Recent law clerk experience with litigation exposure.
