Full job description
Employment Type: Part timeShift: Rotating Shift Description: Department: Hospital Transport Location: Trinity Health Ann Arbor
POSITION PURPOSE Transfer and transport patients safely and effectively from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas.
Required Qualifications: Education
- High school diploma or GED recommended. Basic skills in reading, writing, and arithmetic.
Experience
- Prior healthcare experience is not required.
What you will do:

Transport stable, non-monitored patients from patient care areas to and from diagnostic/ testing areas (such as CT, X-ray, Angio, Hemo) and to inpatient units for admissions.

Able to effectively communicate with the patient, family, visitors, and the direct care providers.

Transporters are to directly speak with the RN or the Healthcare Provider prior to a transport and when the patient returns to the unit.

Transporters are to assist the patient with his/her restroom needs as necessary.

Able to safely transfer patients using a transfer device such as a patient sling, slide board, or other hospital approved transfer devices.

Cleans transport equipment between each patient use.

Transport, locate, and redistribute equipment such as stretchers, wheelchairs, Airpals, Stryker Glides, oxygen, and other necessary equipment to perform transports.

Replaces oxygen tanks as needed (less than 500 psi).

Provides directions to families and/or visitors.

Maintains current BLS certification.

Attends and participates in departmental meetings and continuing educational activities.
