Job DescriptionThe second level of the Accounting Series is responsible for performing complex and non-routine financial support duties to ensure the accuracy of accounting and financial records and compliance with standard accounting practices and statutes. Responsibilities may include balancing department accounts; reconciling accounts; clarifying discrepancies in financial records; reviewing financial reports; processing and reviewing various payroll transactions; and responding to a variety of inquiries about financial information.

Job Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Processes and reviews various payroll transactions; time cards; clarifies discrepancies in payroll records and makes adjustments; enters employee and related information into specialized systems.

Prepares; maintains; and reviews financial reports; and records; prepares account receivables and payables with proper account coding; collect property tax; researches and compiles information; and ensures informational accuracy and compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

Responds to telephone and in-person inquiries from the general public and other internal and external staff; departments; and/or agencies; escalates complex issues to higher-level staff

Maintains files and documents; troubleshoots basic accounting system issues or escalates complex issues to applicable departments/staff; balances the cash drawer; prepares annual capital asset report and performs related office support duties.

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.

Education and/or Experience

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Associate's degree or two-year technical certificate in Accounting; and three years accounting support or related experience. Experience in payroll preferred.

  • Utilizing a computer and relevant software applications;

  • Utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers; supervisors; the general public and others to sufficiently exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Positions in this class typically require: reaching; standing; walking; fingering; grasping; feeling; talking; hearing; seeing and repetitive motions.

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift; carry; push; pull or otherwise move objects; including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.

GRADE LEVEL: UB23

Starting Pay: $25.75

Full range for candidates with direct experience: $25.75 - $34.60

Part Time positions accrue sick time based on a pro-rated amount.

Schedule may vary, Monday - Friday, 24 hours per week (varies during tax time).

10:00am - 2:00pm
