Job Description

Bank Officer – Lending, Compliance & Community Banking

1st Security Bank of Deer Lodge – Deer Lodge, Montana

Full-Time | On-Site

About the Position - Pay information not provided

1st Security Bank of Deer Lodge is a locally owned community bank seeking an experienced, community-minded Bank Officer to join our team.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who wants to be an integral part of a small-town community bank and have a meaningful role in both the bank and the community it serves. The position is intentionally broad and may involve lending, regulatory compliance, bank operations, customer relationships, and general bank management.

We are looking for someone who wants to live in our community, become genuinely involved in the community, and build long-term relationships with our customers, businesses, agricultural producers, civic organizations, and local leaders.

This is not a position for someone looking to simply work in town and go home at the end of the day. We are looking for someone who wants to be part of the town.

What You Will Do

Responsibilities will vary based on experience and strengths, but may include:

Compliance & Risk Management

  • Assist with the bank's regulatory compliance program.

  • Help ensure compliance with applicable banking laws, regulations, and internal policies.

  • Assist with BSA/AML, OFAC, consumer compliance, and other regulatory requirements.

  • Participate in audits, examinations, policy development, and corrective-action processes.

  • Maintain strong attention to detail and documentation.

Lending

  • Develop and manage commercial, agricultural, real estate, and consumer loans.

  • Meet with borrowers, evaluate credit requests, analyze financial statements and tax returns, and make sound lending recommendations.

  • Monitor existing loans and maintain strong borrower relationships.

  • Participate in loan committee and credit administration activities.

  • Develop new lending and deposit relationships within the community.

Bank Management & Operations

  • Participate in the day-to-day management of a small community bank.

  • Work closely with bank leadership and employees across departments.

  • Help identify operational improvements and solve problems as they arise.

  • Assist with strategic planning, budgeting, policies, procedures, and other management responsibilities.

  • Provide leadership and support to bank employees.

  • Represent the bank professionally with customers, businesses, community organizations, and regulators.

Community Involvement Is Important

The successful candidate will be expected to live in Deer Lodge, Montana and become actively involved in the community.

We are looking for someone who enjoys knowing their neighbors, supporting local businesses, attending community events, volunteering, and developing relationships throughout the community.

The ideal candidate will naturally become a visible and trusted representative of the bank - someone who understands that community banking is about relationships and that those relationships extend well beyond the Bank's front door.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong financial and analytical skills.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Sound judgment and the ability to make thoughtful, independent decisions.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

  • Ability to work effectively in a small-team environment where employees wear multiple hats.

  • A genuine interest in serving customers and the local community.

  • Willingness and ability to live in Deer Lodge and become actively involved in the community.

A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, agricultural business, or a related field is preferred.
