Your opportunity

At Schwab, you’re empowered to make an impact on your career. Here, innovative thought meets creative problem solving, helping us “challenge the status quo” and transform the finance industry together.

Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.

Schwab is looking for a Senior Cloud & Containerization Engineer to join the thinkorswim Cloud Engineering team. You should be a technologist at heart who enjoys building scalable platforms and developer solutions using modern cloud, container, automation, and AI technologies. You will be a hands-on engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, agile environment and is passionate about cloud-native platforms, Kubernetes, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps, and AI-enabled engineering solutions.

This role will play a key part in the continued modernization of the thinkorswim platform, helping evolve applications from on-premises environments to cloud-native architectures. You will partner with Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, SRE, Security, and Application Development teams to build reusable platform capabilities, improve developer productivity, and accelerate cloud adoption. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, automating manual processes, and working across geographically distributed teams.

  • Partner with Cloud Architecture, Cloud Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Security, and Application teams to deliver cloud-native platform solutions.

  • Build and support Kubernetes platforms, containerized applications, and GCP infrastructure for application modernization initiatives.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code, configuration management, and automation solutions using Terraform, Ansible, SALT, Bash, and Python.

  • Design and support CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and developer enablement platforms using GitHub Actions.

  • Troubleshoot cloud, infrastructure, networking, Kubernetes, and production issues to improve platform reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Drive automation and AI-enabled engineering solutions to enhance developer productivity and software delivery.

  • Support cloud transformation, containerization, developer enablement, and AI platform integration initiatives across the thinkorswim ecosystem.

What you have

  • 2+ years of experience in Software Development, Cloud Engineering, and DevOps supporting large-scale enterprise applications in highly regulated environments preferred.

  • Strong hands-on experience in Java, GKE and Docker

  • Proficiency in Terraform, Ansible, SALT, Bash and Python.

  • Google Cloud Professional Certification(s).

  • Experience in GitHub Actions Pipeline and CI/CD

  • Exposure to AI-enabled engineering solutions, LLM integrations, MCP platforms, or software delivery automation is a plus.

  • Experience working with offshore and geographically distributed engineering teams.

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
