Job Duties

HealthPartners is hiring an Application Analyst and Developer - Epic MyChart. This position plays a critical role in supporting, enhancing, and optimizing patient access and digital engagement technologies across the organization.

The individual in this role is responsible for analyzing business and technical requirements, documenting and implementing application changes, and supporting the ongoing delivery of Epic MyChart and related digital patient experience solutions. Depending on experience and level, this role may also provide technical leadership, mentor team members, guide implementation efforts, and serve as a key resource to business partners and other IT teams.

This position supports a broad portfolio of Epic MyChart and digital patient experience solutions, including online scheduling, telehealth, digital check-in, patient self-service tools, appointment communications, Epic Welcome Kiosks, and other patient engagement technologies. Responsibilities also include supporting new hospital and clinic implementations, strategic access initiatives, system maintenance, and Epic software upgrades and enhancements.

This role supports several high-profile organizational initiatives, including scheduling optimization efforts, Epic Refuel initiatives, telehealth optimization, the transition to Epic MyChart Scheduling, Epic Welcome Kiosk deployments, and upcoming facility rollouts. Success in this position will directly contribute to improving patient access, enhancing the digital patient experience, and supporting HealthPartners' strategic technology goals.

Reporting to a Senior Manager, IT Care Delivery Systems, this position is part of a collaborative team of six (6) analyst/developers, and engineers responsible for supporting and enhancing critical healthcare technology solutions across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Three (3) years of experience in IT analysis, application support, systems development, technical design, or a related healthcare technology role, ideally supporting Epic applications, with a preference for experience and certification/proficiency in Epic MyChart.

Experience coding, testing, implementing, and supporting application changes.

Working knowledge of one or more programming or scripting languages. Experience with XML, CSS, .NET, SQL, or similar technologies is preferred but not required.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Understanding of IT infrastructure concepts, systems integration, and application architecture.

Demonstrated ability to gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into effective technical solutions.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

Experience creating clear and concise technical documentation, specifications, and support materials.

Experience participating in project teams through the full project lifecycle, from requirements gathering through implementation and support.

Knowledge of multiple systems development methodologies and best practices.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and critical thinking skills.

Ability to participate in a team-based 24x7 on-call rotation to support critical applications and services.

Preferred Qualifications:

Six (6+) or more years of IT analysis, systems development, application support, or technical design experience.

Three (3+) or more years of experience leading projects, initiatives, or workstreams from planning through implementation.

Three (3+) or more years of experience coding, testing, implementing, and supporting application enhancements and program changes.

Three (3+) or more years of healthcare provider, payer, or health plan experience.

Demonstrated project leadership experience on medium-sized projects, including coordination of stakeholders, timelines, and deliverables.

Proven ability to analyze complex business and technical requirements and translate them into effective solutions.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.

Current Epic MyChart certification or proven experience supporting and configuring the Epic MyChart application.

Hours/Location:

M-F; Core business hours

This position offers a flexible, primarily remote work environment, with occasional onsite attendance for team meetings, collaboration sessions, and other business-related activities.

Participates in a rotating on-call schedule, providing occasional after-hours support.

Compensation Range:

This position is available at an associate, intermediate or senior level, depending on qualifications.

Associate Analyst and Developer: $30.46 - $45.70 hourly

Intermediate Analyst and Developer: $36.37 - $54.55 hourly

Senior Analyst and Developer: $46.06 - $69.10 hourly

Principal Analyst and Developer: $51.85 - $77.77 hourly

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Pay within our ranges may also be determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, location, and abilities as well as internal equity. Hired candidates may be eligible to receive additional compensation based on role (e.g., shift differential, bonus, sales incentive, productivity pay, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Analyzes functional and technical requirements for application changes and enhancements and develops corresponding system designs, specifications, and technical solutions.

Configures, tests, deploys, and supports application functionality while ensuring solutions meet business and technical requirements.

Performs unit testing and supports system, integration, and end-user testing activities, including the development and maintenance of test scripts, environments, and data requirements.

Diagnoses system failures, troubleshoot issues, implements corrective actions, and identifies opportunities to prevent future occurrences.

Develops technical specifications based on business needs and collaborates with business partners to evaluate technical options, constraints, and priorities.

Supports third-party application software and collaborates with vendors to resolve issues, coordinate upgrades, and manage software installations.

Identifies and promotes process improvements, standard methodologies, and best practices to improve system reliability, performance, and supportability.

Provides technical guidance, knowledge sharing, training, and mentoring to team members, as appropriate.

Supports audits and compliance activities by providing requested documentation and participating in interviews with auditors and third-party reviewers.
