Job Description
The Helpdesk Support Specialist provides hands-on technical support to internal and external users, including direct support to the CEO. This role focuses on personal computers, desktop applications, and related hardware in a predominantly Microsoft network environment. You will configure, install, and troubleshoot Windows and Mac devices, support Office 365 and collaboration tools, and work closely with network and systems engineers and external vendors to ensure reliable IT service delivery.
Responsibilities

Provide technical support to internal and external customers for personal computers, desktop applications, and related hardware.

Deliver dedicated technical support to executive leadership, including the CEO, ensuring timely and high-quality issue resolution.

Support Windows and Mac desktop applications, including user interfaces, word processing, spreadsheets, databases, and application integration tools.

Set up, upgrade, and install desktops and laptops; configure, test, and install hardware, operating systems, peripherals, and application software.

Apply solid understanding of PC imaging concepts and systems to deploy and maintain user devices efficiently.

Provide desktop technical support for personal computers, printers, fax machines, and related equipment; evaluate requirements and issues and recommend or implement corrective actions.

Assist the IT applications group in supporting administrative applications, including Microsoft Office 365 and mobile device management (MDM) solutions.

Support IT service requests and hardware procurement activities, including new hire setups and separation-related equipment removals.

Collaborate closely with regional and global network and system engineers to support day-to-day IT infrastructure operations.

Utilize IT service management tools and ticketing systems to log, track, and resolve incidents and service requests in a structured and timely manner.

Administer and support the VOIP phone system, specifically RingCentral telephony, to ensure reliable voice communication services.

Develop or identify training materials and conduct in-person training sessions for users on desktop applications and related tools.

Maintain current and accurate support documentation and publish it for team collaboration and knowledge sharing.

Stay up to date on company lab environments, desktop application products, and technology trends relevant to the role.

Support and assist with IT projects, including new site implementations related to networking, computer and printer connectivity, and telephony.

Provide audio-visual support for meetings, ensuring conference rooms and AV equipment function properly.

Perform other IT support duties as assigned to contribute to overall service quality and operational efficiency.
Essential Skills
-
Approximately 2+ years of helpdesk or technical support experience, providing hands-on support for end users.
-
Strong understanding of networking concepts and basic networking knowledge to support connectivity and troubleshooting.
-
Broad knowledge of personal computers (Windows and Mac), including both hardware and software, preferably in a Microsoft network environment.
-
Experience supporting Windows operating systems and Mac OS in a business environment.
-
Proficiency with Microsoft Office 365, including common productivity and collaboration applications.
-
Demonstrated ability to configure, install, and troubleshoot hardware, operating systems, and peripherals.
-
Experience with PC support, including desktops and laptops, imaging processes, and device deployment.

Hands-on experience supporting printers and related peripherals in an office environment.
-
Experience providing audio-visual support for meetings, including conference room technology and AV equipment.

General knowledge of the Internet and related services such as email to assist users with connectivity and application issues.

Ability to work comfortably under pressure while maintaining high standards of quality and accountability.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills to deliver clear, professional, and customer-focused support.

Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to interact effectively with users at all levels of the organization.
Additional Skills and Qualifications

Familiarity with Microsoft network environments and integration of desktop applications into broader infrastructure.

Experience using IT service management tools and ticketing systems to manage incidents and requests.

Exposure to or experience with mobile device management (MDM) solutions in support of Office 365 and mobile users.

Experience collaborating with network and systems engineers in regional or global teams.

Knowledge of VOIP phone systems, particularly RingCentral telephony platforms.

Ability to create, maintain, and improve user-facing training materials and internal support documentation.
-
Technical certifications related to IT support, networking, or operating systems are a plus.

Strong sense of ownership, pride, and responsibility in the quality and reliability of delivered IT services.
Work Environment
This role is fully on-site in Naperville, IL, working Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will support roughly 250260 end users across Canada and the United States in a professional office setting. The environment relies heavily on Windows and Mac computers, Microsoft Office 365, printers, VOIP telephony via RingCentral, and audio-visual equipment for meetings. You will use IT service management and ticketing tools as part of daily operations and collaborate with regional and global IT teams. This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Naperville, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $30.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
