Strengthening and empowering all of the communities we serve.

Advance Local is seeking a Content Strategist who is a versatile content creator and project leader responsible for planning, producing, publishing, and evaluating content developed by Headline Studio for internal and external clients, with particular emphasis on content serving jewelry buyers, designers, and retailers.

Working across print, digital, social, video, and emerging media, the Content Strategist contributes to every stage of the content lifecycle. This position will handle a broad range of assignments, including devising content plans to address business goals and audience needs; building content calendars and publication schedules; creating and managing content across multiple media; coordinating production resources; and using audience insights to refine future work.

This is a remote position with occasional travel to New York City required, so our ideal candidate will be located within the tri-state area.

The base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $75,000 annually.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Devise content plans and programs that fulfill clients’ business objectives and meet the needs of the target audience.

  • Create and publish original content in multiple media formats, including blog items, newsletter articles, infographics, social media posts, marketing copy, podcasts, photos, and videos.

  • Develop content calendars and production schedules. Work closely with other stakeholders to keep projects on track and on budget.

  • Oversee printers, freelance page designers, photographers, and other artists, ensuring that their work meets specifications and is delivered on time at the expected cost.

  • Place orders with contractors and vendors. Process and maintain records of vendor contracts. Track and authorize invoices for payment. Assist the business team in keeping complete, timely records of expenses.

  • Uphold rigorous standards for content quality and integrity, making sure that all work is fair, accurate, and ethically produced.

  • Monitor content performance using metrics such as digital page views and clicks. Use audience insights to refine content strategy. Prepare and present reports to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Maintain productive relationships with internal and external clients, helping translate business objectives into effective content solutions.

Our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, business, marketing, English, or a related field.

  • A minimum of one to three years of experience in content creation, content strategy, digital marketing, or journalism.

  • Strong copywriting, visual, editing, and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate ideas comfortably in multiple forms of media.

  • Proven ability to optimize content for search engines and social placement.

  • Proven ability to collaborate with creative and business stakeholders, including journalists, editors, artists, sales and marketing managers, production specialists, and financial analysts, and achieve success within established budgets.

  • Excellent project management skills, with experience managing complicated workflows and tight deadlines.

  • Self-starter with the ability to guide an opportunity from an original idea through planning, execution, and refinement.

  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to learn unfamiliar subject matter quickly.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, content management systems such as WordPress, measurement packages such as Google Analytics, and generative AI tools such as Microsoft Copilot or Claude. Familiarity with Adobe Photoshop and InDesign is a plus.

  • Ability to work flexible work schedules including nights, weekends and holidays if needed.
