Full job description

Assists the classroom teacher with the implementation of the Individual Education Plan for each student served as assigned by the teacher. Assists with the mechanics of classroom management on a daily basis, including preparation of class materials, managing student behavior by use of student Code of Conduct and/or individual behavior plans, assists with individual self-care needs (lifting as needed). Provides supervision of students served according to student competency, rules and regulations of SCSDB. Assists with the necessary record keeping, data collection, preparation of behavior/progress reports, and daily communications. Communicates effectively with students in developing language, conceptual and behavioral skills, using a variety of methods based on each student's individual ability. Also assists the teacher with monitoring daily schedules, supervision of students during lunch and on field trips, as well as during trips to the health center.

A high school diploma and experience in general administration, education or child care working with children in an educational setting and/or behavior management program. This position may require communication modalities dependent upon employment placement.
