Full job description

To provide quality instruction to meet the academic, developmental, and functional needs of students served.

  1. Instruction: Implement and refine district approved curriculum to meet the evolving educational needs of students. Systematically gather, analyze, and use data to measure student progress, guide instruction, and provide timely feedback. Uses technology effectively to enhance student learning and to manage the classroom. Maintain a safe, student-centered learning environment that is engaging and respectful. 2. Planning and Management: Manage classroom with clear, consistent expectations for student behavior with an aim to create a calm, safe, orderly learning community. Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans consistent with compliance requirements. Complete additional special education actions and attend meetings as applicable as part of a student’s educational team.
  2. Professionalism: Meet district and school deadlines established for task completion. Communicate effectively with parents/guardians. Participate in professional development opportunities.Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills and collaborate effectively with other staff members. Adhere to district guidelines for staff attendance and follow board-approved policies and procedures. Contribute to the overall success of the school and share its commitment to the education of individuals with sensory differences. Maintain confidentiality of student information and records in accordance with SCSDB, State and/or Federal laws/regulations.

A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Completion of a CAEP approved training program or eligible for South Carolina certification through the State Department of Education’s approved alternative certification routes. Valid South Carolina certification (or is eligible to obtain a South Carolina certificate) in the subject area(s) employed to teach, Special Education: TVI. Ability to implement appropriate braille skills and/or to acquire requisite skills. If selected for an interview you must provide verification of your highest level of education (e.i., copy of BA Degree, high school diploma, college transcripts) and if applicable, licensure and/or certification (e.i., nursing licensure, teacher licensure, bus driving certification).
