At Jacobs our Mechanical Engineers lead a range of skills as part of an integrated building services design. The mechanical team at Jacobs is consistently tasked with the most interesting and complicated design challenges to help the Federal Government fulfill their mission.

The mechanical engineer is responsible for leading building mechanical and plumbing systems designs to fulfill our clients’ mission in our key global market sectors. The mechanical engineer must have knowledge of system selection, application of the Federal Requirements and be ready to lead a team to complete construction documents. Other related design services include coordination with the designs of other trades (architectural and engineering / internal and external). The mechanical Engineer will take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the assigned projects working in conjunction with a technical team leader. The mechanical engineer will be responsible for signing work done under their supervision.

Lead Federal projects design and production efforts

Be responsible for managing mechanical project budgets, schedules, and project specific manpower requirements.

Attend client review conferences

Perform construction administration and field investigation tasks for assigned projects including conducting field inspections and subsequent detailed inspection reports

Lead work with engineers of other disciplines and architects

Understand and apply applicable code requirements and industry standards for mechanical, plumbing systems.

Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor Degree in Architectural Engineering (BSAE) required

Required 5 years HVAC and Plumbing experience working in a consulting engineering environment required

Professional Engineer License

Revit experience

US Citizenship is required
