Heavy Equipment Operator Solar Installation Site Job Description

Position: Heavy Equipment Operator

Industry: Solar Construction / Renewable Energy

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to support utility-scale solar installation projects. The ideal candidate will safely operate heavy equipment used for site preparation, grading, excavation, material handling, and solar panel installation activities while maintaining productivity and safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, skid steers, bulldozers, loaders, graders, telehandlers, and forklifts.

  • Perform site preparation, grading, trenching, and earthmoving activities.

  • Assist with installation of solar racking systems and support structures.

  • Load, unload, and transport construction materials throughout the job site.

  • Conduct daily equipment inspections and basic preventative maintenance.

  • Follow project plans, specifications, and site safety requirements.

  • Work closely with construction crews, foremen, and project managers.

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas.

  • Report equipment issues, hazards, or safety concerns immediately.

  • Adhere to OSHA and company safety regulations at all times.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience in construction, solar, civil, or industrial projects.

  • Experience operating excavators, skid steers, loaders, and telehandlers.

  • Knowledge of grading, trenching, and material handling.

  • Ability to read site plans and follow directions.

  • Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as needed.

  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

  • OSHA 10/30 certification preferred.

Preferred Experience:

  • Utility-scale solar farm construction.

  • Installation of solar panels, racking systems, or pile driving operations.

  • GPS-guided equipment operation.

  • Heavy civil or renewable energy project experience.

Schedule & Environment:

  • 10-12 hour shifts, Monday-Saturday (project dependent).

  • Outdoor work environment.

  • Travel or relocation may be required based on project location.

Pay: Competitive hourly rate based on experience, plus overtime opportunities.

This is a Contract position based out of Cleburne, TX.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
