Technical Project Manager – Data Migration (Databricks)
Duration: Long term/Full Time Location: Grand Rapids, MI(hybrid)
About the Role Celebal Technologies is looking for a seasoned Technical Project Manager to lead a critical cloud transformation initiative for our aerospace client. You will drive the end-to-end migration of complex legacy data systems to a modern Databricks Lakehouse platform. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in data engineering and proven experience managing large-scale data migrations in highly regulated environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Project Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of legacy-to-Databricks data migration tracks using Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- Migration Strategy: Work closely with Data Architects and Engineers to map legacy data structures into modern Delta Lake formats.
- Timeline Management: Define project scope, track milestones, manage sprints, and mitigate technical risks or blockers.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary bridge between Celebal’s technical delivery team and Client's business leadership.
- Governance & Compliance: Ensure migration frameworks adhere to strict data security, governance, and aerospace compliance standards.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 7+ years of total IT experience, with at least 3+ years acting as a Technical PM or Delivery Lead for Data/Analytics projects.
- Core Expertise: Proven track record of successfully delivering Legacy Data Systems to Databricks migration projects.
- Technical Familiarity: Strong conceptual understanding of Databricks, Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Cloud Data Warehouses (AWS/Azure), and ETL pipelines.
- Agile Mastery: Deep knowledge of Scrum/Kanban practices, Jira, and Confluence.
- Domain Exposure: Prior experience working with Aerospace, Aviation, Defense, or Heavy Manufacturing clients is a huge plus.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills for handling senior enterprise stakeholders.
