Description

Our client, a well-established NYC family office, is currently seeking a Senior Trust Tax Accountant to join their team. This organization has a collaborative, stable culture and supports a broad range of tax, trust and estate, investment, philanthropic and financial administration activities.

The Senior Trust Tax Accountant will join a four-person team and take a hands-on role overseeing trust tax compliance, annual trust accountings and ongoing trust administration. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced tax professional who is comfortable working independently with complex trusts while contributing across a variety of accounting and tax functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare complex federal and state trust tax filings, annual trust accountings and related tax compliance deliverables.

  • Oversee key trust administration activities, including distributions, trustee fees and the interpretation of trust documents for tax and accounting purposes.

  • Prepare and support a variety of individual, gift, foundation, corporate and partnership tax returns and related filings.

  • Handle tax extensions, estimated payments, information returns and responses to federal, state and local tax inquiries.

  • Support general accounting functions, including investment accounting, journal entries, reconciliations, year-end workpapers, financial statements and audit preparation.

  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting and tax processes while providing support across a lean, collaborative team.

For immediate consideration please email Alex.Muzaurieta@roberthalf.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field

  • 4+ years of relevant professional experience.

  • Significant hands-on experience preparing complex trust tax returns, particularly Form 1041, along with annual trust accountings and trust administration.

  • Public accounting experience is preferred; CPA or Enrolled Agent credentials are a plus.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, sound judgment and the ability to prioritize accuracy and discretion.
