Full job description

This is a courtesy posting for the Iowa General Assembly. Applicants should follow instructions in "To Apply" to be considered.

Shift is Thursday-Friday-Saturday, off on Sunday, then Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday. Then off for six days. Each shift is 10 hours, roughly 7a.m. to 5 p.m. Work Hours: 30 hours per week job Type: Full time with benefits

Duties: Responsible for performing security checks at State Capitol entrance points and patrolling Capitol and Miller Office Building in order to detect suspicious activity and ensure the safety of persons and property.

For consideration: applicants shall submit an online application, cover letter describing security and/or law enforcement experience, and resume to www.legis.iowa.gov/careers. Interviews begin in October 2026. Employment starts as early as November.

Four year degree (BA/BS) from accredited college or university required with professional security/law enforcement experience of five years. High School Diploma, GED, or military experience and related professional security/law enforcement experience in excess of five years minimum may be substituted for education.
