Full job description

Description We are looking for a detail-oriented Branch/Retail Banking Clerk to support daily branch operations. This Contract position blends front-line teller service with relationship-based banking support, requiring someone who can manage transactions accurately while delivering a high-quality customer experience. The ideal candidate is comfortable working independently in a fast-paced financial services environment and can help customers with routine banking needs, account support, and product guidance.

Responsibilities:

  • Process a range of branch transactions for lobby and drive-through customers, including deposits, withdrawals, check handling, money orders, and bond redemptions while confirming all required information is complete.

  • Build strong client relationships by identifying banking needs, recommending appropriate products or services, and contributing to branch referral and cross-sell objectives.

  • Open new accounts and maintain existing customer profiles with a high degree of accuracy, ensuring records are current and documentation is properly completed.

  • Manage and reconcile a cash drawer each day, research balancing discrepancies, and resolve errors in accordance with branch policy and internal controls.

  • Provide knowledgeable assistance on branch financial services, answer customer questions clearly, and resolve routine service issues with care and professionalism.

  • Support lead teller functions and assist team members across branch locations when coverage or operational needs require additional help.

  • Accept loan applications, gather supporting documentation, and follow established procedures to help ensure files are completed correctly.

  • Handle collection-related items and provide back-office support that contributes to efficient daily branch operations.

  • Follow bank procedures, service standards, and compliance expectations while completing additional duties assigned by branch leadership. Requirements • At least 3 years of experience in banking, branch operations, teller services, or a similar financial services role.

  • Strong data entry and numeric entry skills with the ability to maintain precise customer and transaction records.

  • Working knowledge of banking products, deposits, account servicing, and general branch operations.

  • Proficiency with computers and the ability to navigate banking systems and standard office applications effectively.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-focused, detail-oriented approach.

  • Ability to multitask, stay organized, and perform accurately in a high-volume, fast-paced setting.

  • Capability to work with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with branch staff and leadership.
