ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

Robert Half has partnered with an industry leading, highly reputable manufacturing organization as they look for an experienced accounting professional to support daily finance operations and assist senior leadership with financial reporting, analysis, compliance, and audit activities. This role works closely with the Sr. Controller and finance leadership to help maintain accurate records, support closing processes, manage cash activity, and contribute to cost and profitability analysis.

Key Responsibilities

• Help oversee daily accounting operations, including payables, billing, inventory, and general ledger activity

• Assist with monthly close and preparation of financial statements and management reports

• Review accruals, fixed assets, and general ledger activity to help ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP

• Support cash management, account transfers, and borrowing activity as needed

• Coordinate audit support, including schedules, auditor requests, and financial statement footnotes

• Assist with tax-related reporting, including sales tax, partnership filings, and payroll-related taxable income items

• Contribute to cost accounting, inventory valuation, and margin analysis

• Partner with other departments to identify opportunities to improve financial performance and reduce costs

• Provide guidance and support to accounting staff and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements

As the successful candidate, you likely possess some (or all of) the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance

• 5+ years of accounting experience (either in public accounting or a manufacturing setting, or a combination)

• Strong understanding of financial reporting and accounting principles

• Solid analytical, organizational, and communication skills

• Proficiency with accounting systems and computer applications

• Leadership ability and strong attention to detail

• CPA or MBA preferred (but NOT required)
