Job Description:

General Summary:

The Paralegal/Legal Assistant will be responsible for administration of construction contracts for the company, including preparing, reviewing, and tracking of construction contracts, revisions, and contractual correspondence, assisting in the management of litigation and claims matters, and tracking and managing corporate licenses and registrations.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Litigation and claims support:

  • Coordinate responding to discovery requests, including identifying, organizing and producing documents and other materials in response to subpoenas and/or discovery requests;

  • Interact with and provide assistance to outside counsel;

  • Support the General Counsel with respect to current litigation and potential claims;

  • Contract administration:

  • Process, review and coordinate contracts, amendments, exhibits and correspondence for various types of construction agreements;

  • Create subconsultant agreements within the guidelines of Ghafari’s policies;

  • Track status of contracts and ensure subconsultant compliance with Ghafari requirements;

  • Research information as it relates to:

  • Foreign Corporation Registration and Annual Report

  • Individual Architect and/or Engineer State Licensure

  • Various state registrations for Company Authorization to perform A/E functions

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Employment Qualifications:

  • Associates degree in Paralegal Studies or related field required; Bachelor’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred.

  • Paralegal certification required

  • At least 5 years of paralegal/legal assistant experience; AEC company experience a bonus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed, as well as a strong attention to detail

  • AIA Contract software will be utilized in this position. Previous experience with this software is a bonus.
