Description

$1,000 hiring bonus! This is a FT position and includes benefits. For those covering critical shifts pay will be increased by $2.50 per hour - this includes overnight shifts. Hiring range of $18.86-$21/hr.

As a Senior Youth Worker (facility based), you will provide support, basic needs, and encouragement to youth ages birth - 17 in an emergency crisis shelter or youth ages 16-24 experiencing homelessness. Your required shifts will be 11pm - 7am. During these hours you will conduct intakes and provide support and guidance including the provision of basic needs. You will do minor cleaning and prepare the shelter for the next day. Youth Workers will provide a consistent, safe, and supportive environment for each individual within a setting where the population served may present with a high level of need. The population served may change quickly and within a single shift. In this role, you will develop positive relationships with youth to help them identify immediate needs and/or plan next steps towards stability and how to advance towards those steps. You will also respond to crisis and emergent needs of youth seeking shelter.

Qualifications and Requirements:

Some experience working with youth preferred but not required.

Experience with homeless, at-risk youth or children or youth who have been removed from their homes preferred but not required.

Effective working knowledge of positive youth development, harm reduction, and trauma-informed care preferred.

Training and competency may will be provided in the following areas (requirements based on program and licensing standards):

Blood borne pathogens.

Child safety restraints.

Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI).

Mandated reporting.

CPR & first aid for infants, children, and adults.

SUIDS and prevention of head trauma.

Runaway prevention.

Emergency policies and procedures.

Gender-based needs.

LGBTQ+ needs and resources.

Must be 21 years of age or older.

Must be able to pass a DHS level background check.

Driving not required for overnight shifts.

Must work overnights and every other weekend.
